Being an MVS player/collector I recently shelled out for a NGPC. I really wanted to get my hands on Turf Masters as the MVS game is amzing. It arrived today and is as equally amazing. I'm really impressed how SNK captured the original Turf Masters so well.... Some ports are total crap (ie cool boarders) but Turf Masters is the nuts.

If you ain't got it... go get it!

Turf Masters is awesome on NGPC no doubt, I was never really into golf games, but that little portable beauty had me return to it again and again!

Playing a nice arcade golf game on a pocket. - Relaxing and fun.

Beating star characters like Goenitz by over 10 strokes in a multi-round tourney. - Priceless

Wow, can you play against SNK personalities in the Neo Turf Masters Pocket?

Sort of. You never actually get to see other players, visually. Which isn't much of a surprise, since your chosen character is pretty much all you would see in NTM. But if you check out the other players on the leaderboard, you'll notice that just about all the names are direct character names from other SNK games. Something I thought was very cool.

Thus my talk about Goenitz. I remember when playing one tourney and he was my main rival on the leaderboard. He was ('scuze the pun) blowing away the other CPU competition throughout 2 full rounds of golf. But then, I tore up the last rounds and he just couldn't keep up. He nearly fell to 3rd place, but maintained his position, in the end.

However, there is a bit of randomness to how well certain CPU characters perform from round to round. Which is sort of understandable as that would at least make it feel like they have good days and bad days.

Cool, I never knew Goenitz was so terrible at golf.

Actually, that time, Goenitz wasn't terrible at golf. I had a really good score for the last couple of rounds.

One thing about not so realistic themed golf games, a player can truly have some unrealistic consistency in low scores. However, typically the computer doesn't fare so unrealistically in their game. So often, when players play these games(and have gotten used to the courses well enough), unless they themselves are having a bad day, they can usually clear a distance from the pack of CPU players, in a tourney.

Oh, forgot. Kept thinking stuff was in 9s. Actually, the tourneys always work in 2 rounds of 18 each. So actually he was keeping up the first 18, but I nailed the second 18. Anyway, that was when I attained my highest record on the American course. I still haven't beaten that record. That was when I made the American 18 with -12 under par.
