there have been a lot of people having that same problem with other other games. it seems to be a hardware issue not related to your batteries. i haven't heard of a resolution for this though.

Have you tried replacing the cr2032 Lithium cell battery aswell as the AA batteries?

Have you read the manual to see if there's anything in the troubleshooting section?

I will look it up and let you know later.

You could have a go at cleaning the cart contacts? My MOTM kept cutting out untill gave it a clean.

I've just read through the instruction booklet, but can't find anything realted to to your problem.

It just says about no sound, picture, etc.

Try cleaning your carts contacts, if that doesn;t work, then get a new NGPC!

I have this problem sometimes with KOF-R2, it only happens on my Euro NGPC which had a closeish serial to yours. There is a reported issue with early Euro Models, some members on this forum had units replaced as a result of this issue, during SNK's short stay in the UK.

Cleaning contacts is a good idea, I think one member found success in pulling the cart out a millimetre or two after insertion before powering up...

It's just as well these units are cheap atm, I'd get a spare it's a good time.

Perhaps this issue affects a production run which was not sold in your region. My Japanese Pockets are fine, just my euro has the problem...

My system I got from EB has this problem, with R-2.

Maybe it is just the game itself, and not the systems?

Yeah, usually some games (like MOTM) has an auto-off feature, machine will turn of by itself if being idle for some time...

I think we're talking about mid-play here.

My R-2 sometimes shuts down mid-bootup.

That must be really weird then, my NGP backup battery has never been changed since the firs time I bought it (1997), and I have no problem whatsoever..
