Hey I need to know how to get the joystick off my neo geo pocket, it's the only thing holding the circuit board to the front? Any suggestions?

Hey Mash, saw this post on S:NGP, I see you registered for the sole purpose of asking this question wink Good luck on your back light mod. I think that's what you were attempting...

Actually I would like to know the answer to this. I have tried to take mine apart, but am to afraid to completeky disconnect everything because it seems to be held together pretty well. Thanks in advance for any information guys.

Edit: I mean completely

I've opened mine up. You may have to pry the speaker it away from the case (I used a mini flat head screwdriver) in order to open the system completely. The joystick will fit through the joystick hole.

Also, the plastic screen connector looks pretty fragile, so be really careful with it. I haven't removed the screen from the circuit board (and I don't plan to, as I don't think it is necessary), but I have removed it from the outer case, just to see if I could. Just remember to be really careful with the screen!

I'm still planning on making a few pages for modding NGPC systems. Would it be helpful to have a page on taking the system apart?

My advice is do not open your pocket unless you are planning on modding it in some way ? For one thing there is really not much to see and you will get dust and dander and other crap on the inside of the screen that will basically drive you nuts when you start seeing it.

Other than that the hardist part of opening it will be the Y shaped screw , thats easilly solved with a drill though , just be carefull and go slow. You are better off drilling the actuall plastic around the screw instead of the screw head itself. Also the speaker should pop out very easilly. just mt 2 cents worth since I have had 2 of them apart severall times now.
