Good stuff, after class I went to play MOTM with my friend, it is so satisfying to finally be able to play this after a one year drought. Just not the same thing when the opponent is not a computer AI, ah, the tension, the pressure, the thrills! Looks to me that he hardly plays anyone but Ryu, so I can whoop him when he's not playing Ryu. I show my true colors for the real scrub I am though, I can't clear the fireballs correctly because I'm so used to playing against the AI. If my friend learned to use the dragon punch (yes, that's correct, he's played street fighter since he was a kid and doesn't know how to do the Shoryuuken!) he'd be a monster. I never realized Ryu's move had some pretty crazy priorities.

On that note, how's everyone's calendar look like for the first week of June? I really want to organize some meet where we can get together and fight each other ^_^

MOTM w/ linkup, I always thought that that was pretty lame..Game lags big time. I really couldn't stand it...kofr2 or r1 plays a lot better link cable.

How come you get lag? I haven't really noticed any significant lag.

You get lags when the link isn't plugged correctly.

I recently fired up a Last Blade head-to-head with my 16-year old brother-in-law. Let me just say that he was quite impressed.

Rookie no, lag yes. Link cable was inserted all the way. Game is just garbage 2 player. Give me last blade over that anyday, or sam shodown 2 preferably.

I got lags at first too.
The link cable was plugged too deeply in the consoles.
I switched off the consoles, withdrew the cable just a little bit from both consoles, and it then worked as fast as when you battle against the computer.

I tried 3 diff link cables, and plugged them in 3 diff ways...still slow. Maybe cuz I'm used to gals fighters...or because I never play motm, because it's a lame slow game.

Another thing that I noticed can affect the speed is if one console was turned on after the other. I don't know the technical rationale behind why that could affect it, but all I remember is it affected my ability to play linkup with my friend when we had Last Blade, and it affects the speed when you play Match of the Millennium as well. Otherwise, it runs at almost the same speed as playing against the CPU. There is simply no competing with Gals Fighters in the category of speed though, SNK and Yumekobo worked long and hard to optimize the software so that it could even run on 5 different speed settings, and by any other name, Gals Fighters, aka Queen of Fighters, is = King of Fighters 99 with its ability to perform super cancels, the 99 specials, and 99 Athena.

MotM, a lame game... Hmkay.

This game is regarded by most players as one of the best NGPC games ever, if not THE best.

Of course, you don't have to agree with that... ¬_¬

... By the way, I may add that MotM isn't slower than any KoF.
But you may not like the KoFs either, since you didn't mention them in your favorite ones, in this thread.

Oh well.
To each his own... Or something.

Well, in terms of gameplay, I thought MOTM was weak. It was slow, supers weren't so terribily amazing, and it was too easy to cheap your way through the game. Minigames rock tho.

In my humble opinion, KOFR1 is the best fighter on the system. Followed by Last blade, SamShodown2, Gals fighters, kofr2, motm, fatal fury, sam shodown 1. Now, that's in terms of gameplay. Graphics wise, MOTM is pretty nice looking - last blade is good, I thought they didn't use a wide enough colour palette, but I guess they were sticking w/ the arcade last blade feel.

I guess I was never really able to get "into" motm, just too bloody slow and cheap.

My 69 cents :p

Match of The Millenium is kind of easy and sort of cheesy I was bored because it felt like I was up against the same characters every time on the capcom side? I prefer KoF R-2 any day because the game has just the right "feel"

but dont let me stop you from getting any game
MOTM is a good game to start with.

Agree or Disagree????

Disagree.
MotM is awesome, as for KoF R-2, it's one of the fighting games I like the least on the console.

Well, it is true that most of the Capcom characters kind of behave the same, so it does get tiring playing against Capcom characters. Case in point:

Ryu=Ken=Akuma=Sakura=Morrigan=Evil Ryu, and to a certain extent = Guile = Chun-Li

I hardly call it easy, because you do have to fight the survival 3 count match against the clones of Akuma, Morrigan and Zangief, and they ain't no walk in the park. plus you have to fight Geese, so it mixes things up a little. I didn't like the lack of roll, but since it's not King of Fighters it'd be hard to justify having it in there, since Capcom crew would just bite the dust if that feature was in.

Personally I like MOTM and King of Fighters R-2 equally. The AI for both are very intelligent, and they give me a workout whenever I play either one of them. I might like King of Fighters just a little bit more because I can't live without Emergency Escape and Guard cancels.

I remember loving KOF:R2 when I got it, and played it a lot. Then I got MOTM which I think is a better game all around. I then picked up a US Gals Fighters, which I've been playing to death. The other day, I popped in MOTM and noticed how slow the gameplay is compared to Gals Fighters. Let me just say that they are all good in their own right, I just got used to a certain speed and it was difficult to go back.

Yeah, that happened to me too. After playing GF, KOFR2 felt very slow and akward. MOTM wasn't as bad, but it was still quite noticable. I really wish MOTM had the GF engine.

I'm sure they would have used the Queen of Fighters Engine, if Neo Geo Pocket Color was still alive today. They did announce Match of the Millennium 2 when the announcement was made that SNK of America gotten a new marketing director, was going to step up the advertising campaign and so forth.
