You can get this game for the GBA for $14.99 at Circuit City these days. I just picked it up this past friday and I haven't put it down since (other than some MotW in between :D )

I'm currently at %90.6 completion. I have about half of the magic cards and I'm tearing the shit up baby. Those enemies don't stand a chance. Well I take that back. I have trouble with the fallen angels, and the Dark and Holy Armors (annoying mother fuckers), and the Devil. I got all the cool magic items. These things are amazing and let Nathan do some wicked shit. Call me the Rocketeer :p .

When I first played this game I was immediately impressed about the graphics. I personally believe that it's more detailed and more graphically advanced than most of the SNES games. To appreciate this detail though you must have a lot of ambient light. I mean you gots to sit under a Halogen or something. There are tons of enemies with unique abilities. The color scheme is spot on, and the amount of detail is staggering - you can see menacing smiles on some of these regular enemies. The bosses are something else. They can fill half of the screen, and show a level of detail that I did not think would be possible on the GBA. You have to see them yourself! (again use 100,000 candle watt if available)

The DSS system enables you to use cool magic by pairing a roman god card, and an ability card. My favorite so far is using "Mars" and "Cockatrice" which gives you tonfers that are powerful and capable of turning enemies to stone before they die. There are many of these magic weapons. It's fun just to pair different cards to see what effect you'll get. Nice anticipation.

The music is awesome with many memorable tunes in certain parts of the map. It really sets the mood, and foretells the terrible creatures you'll soon see <img src="graemlins/eye.gif" border="0" alt="[Eye]" /> .

The levels are very pleasing to the eye, each with it's own unique background designs. Some of these are simply amazing, like in the chapel(?) with the stained glass. They open up gradually as you gain more magic items. If you get the second to last item, you'll have free reign on the map - Up UP and Away!

This game is fantastic. It's very similar to Symphony of the night in terms of innovative and unique features and gameplay, which I think is amazing since it's a handheld! If you liked SotN, then you'll like this game as well. Nothing like taking the role of vampire killer to set your imaginations running and this is what 2D Castlevania is. Can't wait for the next installment coming soon to the GBA!

Now if only there was a backlit feature on the GBA, and cartridge cases. Don't get cheap on us Nintendo!

Better late than never I guess. The sad thing is that I missed out on so much do to the dark screen and poor lighting.

$14.99?! You lucky son of a bitch. :D

That game indeed rocks. I love the remixes of the music, like the classic Castlevania level 1 stage music and the Clock Tower music from Castlevania III. The bosses are awesome and look like nothing I've ever seen on a portable system. And Dracula's final form is hella freaky. I just wish you could play as Hugh.

Also, the Devil is pretty tough. The way I usually do it is use the Crucifix and stick and/or move. The Exp that you get from this guy is well worth it. ^_^

There's another enemy that gives great experience without the risk of the devil. One of those flying gargoyle like things.

Is there not a GBA forum somewhere within the vast expanse of the information super highway where you can post drivel about your substandard badly engineered Nintendo handheld?
