what do you consider the rarest JPN NGPC games to be?

I'd have to say the two mahjong games, koi koi mahjong,Mezase! Kanji Ou are the rarest. The other two would probably be CFC2 and Neo Poke Pro.

What do you all think? I know finnil has them all, so he probably has a good idea of rarity..

Just got CFC2 among those, don't want the other ones.
And Nige-ron-pa has to be rare...

I consider the rarest game to be Mezase Kanji-Oh, because 1. I don't have it yet and 2. I only saw it listed on eBay twice. In fact, it is probably only of collector's interest to other people, but it's of gamer's interest to me since I'm a student of the Japanese language. But I know what I consider to be the rarest Japanese NGPC game is a lot different from the Japanese NGPC game with the lowest quantity or the lowest existing copies/availability, sometimes both.

I think a harder question would be which is the rarest US game.

Sure MOTM still fetches high prices, but its fairly common just a great game. I can't really think of any games that I don't see listed often.

Then you know you can add a game to my list...

Edit: Or will you just get one for you ?

Re-Edit: Just saw on the French NGPC forum that it would be for me, yoohoo. :D
Thanks !

As far as the Western markets are concerned, I would say the hardest to get are ...
Nige ron pa (NEOP00960)
Mezase! Kanjiou (NEOP00630)
Koi Koi Mahjong (NEOP00910)

Also ...
Mizuki Shigeru Youkai Shashinkan, otherwise known as Ghost Photo Studio (NEOP00620)
Neo Poke Pro Yakuu (NEOP00260)

and increasingly ...
Cardfighters Clash 2 (NEOP01160)

By the way, I am still looking for Nige ron pa, and CFC2. So if anyone wants to sell or trade drop me a PM please.

p.s. Has anyone heard of Biomotor Unitron Campaign Han ? I think it was released as a Japanese special edition, like the Best Collection series.

Is that Kikuseki Unitron, the sequel to Biomotor ?
I got that but it's not in plastic box...

Nope, never seen Campaign Han. But actually, Ghost photo studio isn't rare AT ALL - it is very readilly available in Japan, but for about 80$! Supposedly it's the best game (if you can read Japanese).... Speaking of which Neo Poke Pro isn't really rare either, I can get that game no problemo.

Crazy, Yokai Shashinkan is available for $80.00?! I got mine for a mere $30.00, with shipping included.

I know they aren't rare in Japan. That's why I quoted the Western markets wink

Re Biomotor Unitron Campaign Han, it wasn't the original Biomotor Unitron (NEOP00100) or the sequel Kikou Seiki Unitron (NEOP00500). I saw it originally mentioned on these forums by the guy who was selling the complete, and still sealed, Japanese NGPC collection on Ebay. It was about 6 months ago.

That's odd. Never seen nor heard of it, even on the japanese ngpc sites. But then again, there's lots of strange items, like my KOFR1 and melon chan all in one demo game, w/ box...go figure.

What is it anyway ? (If it does exist... Cuz there's even no ROM for it)

Just Biomotor Unitron with a different package, or does the game actually have any difference ?

Ghost Photo Studio is pretty common isn't it? If only I could figure out how to play it - best I've managed is one miserly photo and an awful lot of text...

What about Neo Derby Champ? You don't see that very often (if at all)

Cheers

I had a Neo Derby Champ in my hands, didn't get it for a high price either, I resold it as soon as I got it.

It's pretty heavy on the reading, I have to admit. But it is a lot of fun, I'm really interested in the occult and Shintoism, and Shigeru Mizuki is one of the foremost authorities in Japanese ghosts. This is another one of the projects I want to start on, writing a faq for this game, as well as polish something up for Densha de Go 2

I suspect it is identical to Biomotor Unitron, just with different promotional packaging.

I found out that there were 2 Campaigh Han (or Campaign Edition) releases - King of Fighters R2, and Biomotor Unitron.
They were promotional re-releases of the original versions, i.e. King of Fighters R2 was rereleased at 2980 Yen rather than the original 4500 Yen, and Biomotor Unitron was rereleased at 1980 Yen rather than the original 3200 Yen.

Cheers.

Did the packaging differ?
No they didn't. They just stuck a sticker on it. You know those King of Fighters R-2 I got? Those were the Campaign Hens.

Yeah, I think the Campaign edition came out at the same time as and in support of the New Neo Geo Pocket Color (slimline). They were no different, though.

Neo Poke Pro Yakuu and CFC 2 pop up atleast once a month on ebay, NPPY went for 70$ and CFC 2 is now on ebay for 100$. Speaking of rare JP NGPC games, I haven't seen the Ogre Battle NGPC set in a long time... I think that one is more rare then the Hashin Tigers NGPC.
