Brittney:
Ok, I bought Samurai Showdown 2 off the internet and when it arrived I was suprised to find a clamshell UK version (Interestingly I think Defence is spelled Defense in the US version...feel free to inform me if this is true) Anyway the clamshell makes the US cardboard versions look like total trash! What's everyone's opinion on the UK versions vs. US versions? I've heard that some of the US versions are rarer, but the clamshell case definitely makes a better impression. Come to think of it, can you buy just the clamshell cases from somewhere?
Nothing wrong with that, Defence is the British english spelling, Defense is the US english spelling. But yeah, the clamshell of course makes the cardboard versions look like trash, BUT, aren't all games sold in cardboard boxes nowadays? SNK was kind of an oddity, selling games that came in hard plastic clamshells, I think Genesis actually did that as well. Rare or not, clamshell has the better shelf life and if you want to look at it from an investment standpoint, which is undoubtedly lurking somewhere in the back of all gamers since the advent of internet auctions make reselling accessible to everyone, clamshell is where it's at.
But then again, it may be that more impressive to have a cardboard box that went completely unravaged by the trials of time to the hardcore collector.
