SNK vs. Capcom MOTM: Which side do you prefer?

I think it might be kind of a stupid question to be asking since this is, after all, a Neo-Geo enthusiast site, but I want to survey what characters people most often use and why they prefer them. I've been playing my MOTM to death and all I can see in Capcom characters are cheap combos, they all play pretty much the same except with different lag time and air juggle duration. Case in point: Ryu=Ken=Akuma=Evil Ryu=Sakura=Morrigan, and to a certain extent=SF Alpha Chun-Li. Dan only plays different because he's a parody of Ryo, and he is actually fairly decent if you're a technical player.

I play Kyo Kusanagi, Iori is starting to grow a little bit on me because some of his moves actually require quite a bit of skill to play, big fan of Mai as well since she's the all around flexible fighter that can do everything including the kitchen sink. But, Kyo Kusanagi remains the crown of MOTM in my opinion because he is the most technical of all technical characters, all his moves require precision timing or otherwise you get punished, plus he has the awesome counter moves that have insane priority.

All throughout the 90s and even into the new millenium, I've preferred SNK to Capcom. MOTM was on different. I almost never play the Capcom characters, and when I do, I get extremely bored.

Well, after mostly playing with Capcom players, MOTM brought a change, and I SNK. With Kyo, and his moves, I can sometimes pull of some great combo's, and his special is superb if you can get all the moves off. I also like to play with Terry Bogart. :)

Iori + Sakura

Im a big sakura fan since alpha 2 :)

plus she plays a bit different from the other shotos while keeping the same basic moves, which i think is neat. Too bad htey nerfed her fireball in cvs2 frown

SNK. My faves are Kyo, Geese, and Terry. However, M. Bison kicks ass on the Capcom side. The intro to the Geese/Bison fight is the best ever.

I've been growing to love Leona lately, her moves are mostly charge moves so she is such a combo demon. However, I've noticed she plays somewhat differently when she's in King of Fighters, because you can emergency escape as well as hard hit, it really takes a seasoned player to use her. Another thing is, for some reason the opponent can be further chained up for combo if one uses Baltic Launcher -> Low weak kick ->forward kick, or Baltic Launcher -> Low weak kick (to take opponent out of guard) -> Rebel Spark in SNK vs. Capcom, but unable to do so in King of Fighters. I thought that was the whole point why the strong Baltic Launcher frees up Leona to move around? Well, in Max mode when Leona turns into Orochi Leona, the Rebel Spark can connect after the Baltic Launcher, but it doesn't follow through for some reason.

I wonder where I can 'test my might', or show who's 'The King of Fighters.' It's pretty dry battling CPU all the time, I want to live a little, I want to kick some ass, I want to brag to someone about my fighting prowess.

3 questions...

Is the Geese/Bison Intro not in the US version?

Is my game on easy mode? All I have to do to perform a move is push the stick in a certain direction and then push A/B. My Supers are just like doing a normal move, except instead of doing a QCF x2 I just do it once. Is my game jacked?

Why is this game rated teen when during Iori's winning screen he says "Fuck off Beeeeeeeeeeach". Has anyone noticed this? It seems a little to harsh for America...Somebody at the ESRB is probably a drunkard

Bwahahaha!

Well the answer to your question is, yes the Geese/Bison Intro is in the US version, because the cart is dual language.

The easy mode can be turned off by going to the options in the main menu and changing the battle configurations. The English version looks bloody vague due to the letter constraint, but there's the hide time meter, hide life meter and turn on/off easy mode.

Are you playing the 'My Character' selection? Then that battlecry is there because someone had edited it. It's available for editing on the second selection on the right side of the selection screen with 6 options. I forget what it's called, basically it's not 'Tournament', 'Olympics', 'Sparring', 'DC Link' or 'Records'.

Yeah, I bought a second used MOTM for linking (but the problem like Bokmeow said, was that there'd never be a chance for anybody to link with me) and it had the shortcut specials activated (I think it is called ABLE or something? It's in the options somewhere).

But the thing is, he had his tag team as Evil Ryu and Evil Iori and their winline was: " Screw you bitch! You must die!!!"

Somehow I don't think that would send fear into my opponents...

I stole mine from K', Sonic Adventure and King of Fighters '98

My character (Kyo): Ore hitori de, jyuubun da! (I can take you all on by myself!) K's victory quote

My tag (Kyo & Iori): Mata asonde yaru ze!
(I'll play with you again anytime!) From Sonic Adventure

My team (Kyo, Iori and Terry): Nanika tarinee ga wakkatarou? etc etc, some long stuff,
Kyo said it in King of Fighters 98.
