Hello there, well, I have been thinking, since the Wonderswan just went under, that Nintendo really does kind of have a Monopoly on the handheld market, and was thinking, what if SNK, Sega, and maybe the Wonderswan, or other Japanese systems formed a trust, or made another handheld.

Of course, this would probably never happen, but a man can dream can't he? :D . So, basically the point of this thread is to put some games you would love to see, accurate hardware specs, or basically anything you want to about this. :)

If they revived the NGPC, I'd be very happy with just that.

Hmmm that'd be on the level of improbable to say the least. Also, the company's name is Bandai that made the Wonderswan and considering they've made 3 iterations of it, and all have had minimal success Wonderswan, Wonderswan Color, and Wonderswan Crystal, I'd doubt they'd be in for it, next since SNK is essentially Playmore who doesn't want to concentrate much on hardware, they are out, and lastly since Sega has supposedly quit the hardware market they are out. Who's left? Oh yeah Nintendo. glee

The crazy ass backward compatibility of Gameboy has helped it outlast its competitors I think, whereas for bigger home consoles the new system usually renders the old software obsolete, see the many generations of Nintendo consoles, whereas Playstation's monstrous library and backware compatibility with the 1st generation keeps it attractive to retailers. I know we Neo-Geo brethrens are proud that the games on the Neo Geo Pocket Color, with the exception of those terrible ass slot machine games, are quality, but Gameboy Advance has us crushed with its tens of thousands of game titles, even if most of them are garbage.

Or they could all invest time in the GP-32 and bring it to the US, lowering the price from 160 bucks to something more reasonable.

holy guacamole, a GP-32 is 160? I haven't played one yet but that's 8 times the price I paid for my Neo Geo Pocket Color. Granted, I did acquire it after it was no longer available in the US market because I didn't know about SNK's console entry until then.

Yea lithy, but if Sega goes into making a Vaccum Cleaner, I think it would have a better chance making a handheld. :D loco . But I think it would be a dream to see SNK and or claymore, and Sega join, and make a handheld, like if Sega wanted to go for some reason, and make another handheld, Sega, and I know it's a dream, but go out, and aquire SNK to make some games. :D

I saw a GP32 for sale on play-asia.com for $145. I'm not sure how reliable the company is though. I had a wonderswan ordered but they e-mailed me a few days later saying they were out of stock and then refunded my paypal. Not a bad system though if you could get one for that price. It has lots of potential. It's a shame Nintendo's the only company in the handheld market in the US.
