Now the GBA has allot of good games, and mainly good RPG's (Sonic probably rocks too), but are the fighting games any good? Who here has a GBA and could give me a short review on the following fighting games:

-King of Fighters EX Neo Blood ( is it really that bad?? as some say, the controls suck, altrough I can handle such sticks like the gba without getting pain. Some say its good, some say its bad... And there is GEESE a.k.a GEECE :loco )
-Super Streetfighter II Turbo Revival ( damn looks sweet, classic streetfighter with all the best characters )
-Streetfighter Alpha 3 ( not out yet but will be good I think )

BTW is Breath of Fire any fun? I'm pretty much of a BoF fan, I know it isn't the best RPG on the GBA, but I'm pretty much of interested.

Here i go again

SF2 is not so great, the use of color makes it hard to see in artificial light.

I found it was not so much fun to play, the gameplay seems not too solid (like old skool sf2 releases, seems like the system just isn't cut out for the work...) but this may be due to the problem I have with actually holding a gba.

Shall i rant on about the love and wonder which flows forth when one plays a NGPC fighter...?

I think that mario kart and perhaps advance wars are the only great games !

golden sun's a great title. that and advance wars alone warrant the purchase of the system.

mario advance 2 looks to be a good port (with some minor tweaks), and sonic advance's supposed to be a lot of fun.

if you're only into fighters, the gba's not for you.

Oke I get the point, thought fighters would be nice but argh! Ill just avoid it, I know there are allot of good RPG's, but its not what I'm looking for then. NGPC owns all handhelds in fighting games, I'm glad I own one

Heh, I don't mean to sound so anti gba, it is an okay system, and the games Nintendo make themselves are great!

Third party developers make games for the gba because development time and resources required are very low, Nintendo licence these games, as they are desperate to stay in the market. But we lose out. Quality is Low.

SNK licensed virtually NO third party developers, but went out of business. We get lucky. Quality is high.

Sony forced Nintendo to move in this direction, and forced SNK out of the market. Blame playstation for fucking it all up…

(and who designed Psone – the big ‘N’ themselves I believe…)

The GBA is a little powerhouse, but its physical design isn't very good. The shoulder buttons are hard to reach, and the whole thing itself isn't solid enough to fit well in your hands, so it'll make almost anyone's fingers and wrists hurt after playing long enough, especially if you play an action game that requires the shoulder buttons a lot (like Tony Hawk 2). In contrast, I used to play MOTM and CFC for long stretches, and never had my hands hurt afterwards.

As far as games go, there are some pretty good ones out there, though some of the early ones are too dark (especially Castlevania, which is a great game, but I personally quit playing it because it was too hard to see what was going on). There isn't an official Nintendo backlight yet, either.

SSF Turbo Revival is very good, despite the fact that it's clearly a port of SNES code (you should recognize the sprites from SSF for the SNES). But it's got all the Super Turbo characters and moves, and has good, responsive control, plus it has a fully configurable control setup (you don't have to use the shoulder buttons at all, if you don't mind giving up a normal move or two), and a quick reset (press A+B+start).

Tekken Advance is just Tekken 3, and looks kind of sloppy. If you love Tekken 3 and can't get enough of it, it's worth getting. If you don't, or if you're sick of Tekken 3, forget about it. It doesn't have a quick reset, so if you want to change characters, change modes, or whatever, you have to switch the GBA off, then turn it back on, which is damned annoying.

I haven't played the final KOF GBA yet, but from what I've seen, I was very unimpressed. I'd say wait for the reviews.

Right now the only good, solid GBA fighting game available is SSF Turbo Revival.

I bought a GBA recently, and Golden Sun. I like the system (I just wish it had better lighting options, I had to buy the screen thingie just to see normally) but Golden Sun is pretty fuckin' sweet. It's got great graphics and a good plot, which makes it OK by me.
I haven't had a chance to play any fighters, but it doesn't really matter since I still have my NGPC and MOTM. I think SF II Turbo Revival Looks good, but I don't know about the gameplay...
Is there going to be a KOF game for GBA? I don't keep up with news about this so someone fill me in.

no, i'm sorry I can't seem to look at the GBA as a portable playstation...

crappy licenses, sloppy ports...

and ANYONE can make a game, hell if I had $4000 dollars I could probably sell some random game I hacked up in a few hours.

gba = shite..

sf2x revival = FUCKING WANK compared to kofr2

quite honestly i got to play the GBA kof game
and i was not impressed.
i almost want to say it was incomplete.
well.. unpolished may be a better word.
but i have to agree.
even the gba cant compete with the NEOpocket
when it comes to fighting games.

Nintendo is disapointing with gamecube and GBA , the games just aren't as good as they used to be .

I have played all the fighters on the GBA, and they suck compared to the NGPC.

If you get a GBA, go for what Bugula said - Golden Sun and Advance Wars. I personally wanted the GBA for Ogre Tactics. I'm curious about Breath of Fire as well...

GBA can never be as good as NGPC for fighting games. Its a hardware issue, the GBA doesnt have a joystick. You can probably get some crappy little add-on like you could for the original Gameboy, but it will never feel like the classic NGPC stick.

Also, I've mEntioned it before (read: rant), but SD graphics really do suit a handheld screen. Capcom should have realised this, the idiots.

well ive owned ssf2 turbo revival but i had to exchange it for advance wars due to it freezing every time before fighting gouki

but it was a great game even after owning advance wars which i love i still miss it.

anyone that liked sf2 series even slightly should love this game. i donno how anyone could honnestly say its ass unless they hated sf2. i still love my ngpc more..i mean what could be better than a portable system with nothing but snk games ..for the most part aside from like sega and namco..and sega and namco are both more than welcome in my book!

npgc whoops the gba in every category except graphics...and i know you all can say graphics are nothing but they definatly widen the possibilities of the games if done properly

i am the most jaded person towards nintendo i would never buy a game cube...but i just couldent resist a brand new 2d system..and a portable one at that!

PS WHO THE *&$@^*% LIKES SHOULDER BUTTONS!! *#$&%IN THINGS ARE USELESS!!
