So I have a mv2f and followed the guide on jamma nation to consolize it with the following:

Jrok encoder
5v 3a power supply
2.1 barrel mount
Rocker switch with 12v led

Finished the guide but I appear to have power problems. The led on the board and the jrok flicker like crazy when the power is on and nothing is being outputted to the screen. Any ideas? The board still work in the cabinet (with a solid red light).

Verify if you had to cut any traces for the board that you in fact did.

Second, this is what I spent almost a month messing with, verify your adapter is actually producing the power it's supposed to.

Also, verify your game is working also.

I have a guide in the tech support section about MV-1AX, look there, there's a link to a Jameco power supply that I used. SAVED MY BUTT.

Does your power supply have a 2.1mm or 2.5mm tip? It sounds like the ground isn't connected good.

Here's the jack

https://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_151555_-1

and the power adapter

I didn't have to cut any traces. I did have to scrape and expose a trace to bridge for the 5v mod. Game and board still works fine in the cabinet. I'll reconnect the ground wire and see if that makes a difference. Also, the light on the power supply flickers as well when the board is turned on (solid green when it's off).

Checked the voltage and the PSU is outputting 5v and the connection to the panel mount is fine. However, when i flip the rocker switch the voltage drops to 1.3v.

Sounds like your psu is dropping under load.

You need a new PSU

I'll admit that my wiring is not great and i'll post some picks when i get home from work. However, if there was a short on the board then wouldn't the same thing happen when i hook it up to my arcade machine? The PSU does feel cheap but i picked it out based on another build thread (although that was a 1 slot build).

BTW, thanks everyone for helping out. I really appreciate the assistance.

Depends where the short is. Try it in the cab and flip the switch on.

Update

Broken was right, it was the power supply. I purchased a new psu located in the link that wyndcrosser recommended and everything works great. Thanks again for all the help.

Good to know.

Remember to check amperage as well when checking the power supply. It could have been 5v at 200mA
