Holy Crap!!! What the HELL is going on with my NGPC???

Ok, tonight i got out my neo pocket slimline as i couldn't sleep. It's been in the box for about 3 months, with sony alkaline batteries left in it. I put in MOTM, and halfway thorugh the first fight (terry vs zangief) it freezes. The music is still playing, though the action is frozen. So i held down the power button to turn it off. Nothing happens. Ok, so i take out One of the two Sony batteries. The picture fades from the screen, BUT THE MUSIC IS STILL PLAYING AND THE POWER LIGHT is STILL ON. i promplty removed the second battery so now the ngpc has no AA batteries in whatsoever. The music is still playing and the light is on!!!, So i removed the Match Of The Millenium cart, and it doesn nothing!!!! the music is still playing, and the power lignt is still on!! so in alast ditch effort to shut the NGPC off, i removed the lithium battery fromt he back. Teh thing is STILL PLAYING ZANGIEF'S THEME AND THE POWER LIGHT IS STILL ON!!!! what the hell is going on here?? There is NO cart, NO Batteries in it, and it's been playing zangief's theme over and over for the last 10 minutes!!! This is kinda freaking me out and i am up at 02:37 in the morning posting this!!! what the HELL is going on with this????!!! :eek:

Okay, do not panic

. Just set the ngpc down, turn down the volume, and the music will eventually stop. Odd things like this have been known to happen. ( are you sure this wasn't a dream

This thing has been looping Zangief's theme for the past 25 minutes with no batteries or cart in it non-stop, and quite frankly it's just plain bizarre. i have even took some photo's with my digicam to try and prove i'm not insane

Look! Thanks to this photo i took, you can clearly see the red Power light on in the reflected image in the mirror, and you can see that there is no batteries or cart in the back of the NGPC!

your system most likely has a residual charge. remember, the NGPC drains power SLOWLY. 40+ hours on two AA batteries. I am guessing the NGPC has capacitor(s). What ever charge is left is slowly draining.

Yeah, it's really weird that that's happening. I've had similar things happen to me, but never for that long. I would just set it down and wait for it to power off. Maybe the dust got to it? ;-D

45 minutes and still going...i wouldn't mind so much if it was a track i actually like, like Krauser's or Guiles themes for instance.

I'm more concerned with how my MOTM cart is holding up, i hope it didn;t fry the chipboard or anything

i can;t test it though because this bloody thing won't shut up ans shut off!!

I suggest you turn the volume all the way up. It will use up more power, hence it will drain out quicker.

sometimes camera flashes will still work a few times with absolutely no batteries in them.... my dad got like i think 10 shots out of one once like that... it's crazy really.

Oh well, i woke up this morning to a very dead neo geo pocket. The music stopped so i put soem batteries in to test my MOTM cart, adn it wouldn't turn on at all. It's dead!

Have you tried all new batteries in it?
I cant believe it died like that!
At least you know the problems not the screen, so if it is dead, you can get one with a busted screen and swap the main boards.
