Sonic cheats help

To get to the level select screen you have to push option at the Sega logo.
It doesnt seem to work for me. Any tips?

I think it only works if you've beat every single level including the bonus. Have you done this?

I havent beat everything yet, but I have tried the cheat in an emulator and it works fine.

Maybe its because my back up battery is dead?

no, I have a perfectly fine working battery and I don't remember ever getting this code to work either(even though I've beaten every single level)

according to the french faq, you need to complete the puzzles to get this to work.
