Wireless Link mode - is it worth it?

I recently (November/December) managed to get two of the wireless link units and have to date been spectacularly unimpressed. I was hoping to get CFC working through them but to no avail...

Anyway, it cropped up in another thread that JPN CFC worked wireless which was certainly news - I have the link units, I have the NGPC's, all I need now is two copies of CFC!

Do we have a definitive list of games which support the wireless link?

/me thinks... KOF:Battle de Paradise?

The question is, assuming you can actually get two or more NGPC's into close proximity, is the wireless link mode worth the effort of time and money?

One on one battles seem better suited to the link cable but are the "party" modes in Dive Alert and Party Mail worth the price of admission? I would love to get 16 NGPC's fitted up with the wireless link and just go for it...

Anyway, my main hope for the wireless link is to get some of my homebrew stuff working through it - precious chance of that without any development documentation though :(

In related discussion... What about the Dreamcast link? Something else I like the sound of but haven't gotten around to testing yet...

Cheers
Chris

the DC link works with KoF R2, MotM, Battle De Paradise, Cool Boarders and Cool Cool Jam.

Not sure but it may work with CFC...

it's really quite stupid though. I mean, the applications for it were great, and all SNK did was allow you to gain more points to buy hidden items.

Like everyone else in late 1999, my hope was to get more playable characters through the DC connection. I mean, I seriously thought it possible for SNK to have used it to transport new characters into your save file or something. But whatever. Worthless.

yah, it really struck me as unimpressive too. I mean, they really didn't make it work that well. The whole idea kinda blew imo (it was a great idea, snk just didn't come up with a good way to integrate the dc and ngpc). Im thinkin the same thing lookin at some of the gba/gc link up, wtf is fun about any of those????

EDIT: mah ramblings were more pointed towards the dc/ngpc link, not the wireless.

The wireless link DOES work with the japanese versions of CFC. It also works with CFC2, but not KOF:BDP. If a game doesn't have the huge cartridge, or the plastic thingie to slip on top, it won't work with wireless link. I recently managed to pick up 2 copies of JPN CFC ( snk and capcom) but haven't yet managed to get the wireless links. IF anybody has a wireless link they'd like to sell, please PM me.

I will try to get pics up of the JPN CFC later this week ( to show what the plastic thingies look like)

Well, it's only a matter of 2000 miles of geography that seperates your JPN CFC carts from my Wireless link units...

What's the effective range of wireless CFC then?

wink
