Just got Faselei and I have to admit, it is a rocking good game, meeting all my expectations and surpassing a few. The turn based programming system give you a really novel grip on the whole Real Time Strategy Games, and there's quite an emphasis placed on mastering the terrains in order to plan your ambush, retreats, and movements. Also excellent cutscenes that Sacnoth is well known for. Now I need a friend to link up with!

I picked up a new UK copy a while back ( for 20$ :D ) and I have not been impressed at all. It's fairly boring, and the turn based play is just not that fun. You just do the same thing over and over and over - I can't even get past the 2nd mission, because I can't reload my guns and I don't have enough HP.

Maybe it's just me? :puzzled:

EDIT: - engrish

I didn't like it at first either.

Once you get into it and remember to pack more ammo, etc it's alot better :) The battling is flawed though :(

I like it more for the presentation and story than the actual playing.. But it's still a nice game.

You have to reload your backpack otherwise you can't requip ammo, and you have to budget your stuff very carefully, each weapon has its upside as well as downside, like better range or wider range but fewer ammo, and I like that kind of management, forces you to become thriftier instead of being a spendthrift.

Yup, its a great game alright. I think the game system is simple but its very indeph at the same time. It does not feel like a quality game to begin with, but give it a chance & it may shine, if you let it.

it's actually quite a great game.

My only problem is that the AI for your allies (Dorothy, Rico, or Agnes) is really quite stupid. Especially Dorothy.

See, teh CPU tries to make her and most opponents look for the closest distance from you to the opponent and then heads that way, even if there is a wall between you. Once in a while it seems ot look for the closest route, and then it will go the right way, but sometimes you have to push your allies along with you.

There are 12 chapters, but when you finish, you can start over and after the first scene you get to choose your old stock of items. Which is great, seening as I had the secret Faol robot ( most powerful available robot). wink

Which reminds me, when you get the "rice" sell it to Sanchan.

you need to get the "rice" item, which is dropped in one of the fights around chapter 7 or 8.

Once you get the rice sell it to Sanchan and he'll offer you a new robot, which is unlisted on the FAQ. It's called the Faol.

I may have recieved the rice for my rankings up to that point, of which all of them were A or S.

Moving off-topic here, but you can forget that idea...

The wireless links need to be explicitly coded for - you can't just fool the NGPC into using them as normal link cables :(

CFC2EE does support the wireless link though. (Along with Dive Alert & Party Mail - any others?)

Cheers

CFC Japanese IS wireless link capable. And, I can get the wireless links for 15 bucks (you just have to look hard wink ). When I get my hands on two of the links, I'll be sure to post some pics of it in action.

But it still looks pretty cool, and I've talked to people and they say it DOES work, so what the heck. I got my 2 CFC for dirt cheap, and I've always wanted to test the wireless link ;D

I mean, yeah, it works, and the concept was a good idea, but the way that only a few games work with it, and not even games that you're really going to want to play that much - kills the appeal.

What they should have done was to make Beast Busters wireless compatible.

They should have also tried to improve the transfer speeds of the normal wire connections. MotM on link up sucks for speed.

Yeah, at one point in time I played some linkup MOTM - not a good idea. Especially on my semi broken link cable - can you say laaaaag? wink
