Alternative NGPC packaging.

O.K I know this IS really anal. But I exchanged a faulty NGPC with SNK U.K the week before the pullout!
Well the weird thing is, the M.D of SNK U.K's P.A, was a girl named Lizzy, and I had a couple of quite lenghty conversations with her, in one of these, she talked about the re-launch of the NGPC in Europe, and in another we talked about the only real fault with the system (the fact that some drop the permenant memmory regularly) Well, she said that the newer type of units were not sucseptible to this!
Well, the upshot of this was, that I received one of these "newer" units, the week before the pullout, and it has different packaging to all my other units.
Pink and Green box with a warranty card on the back of the box, and a big blue instruction book replacing the coloured leaflets!
Now it would be nice if this was the re-launch packaging, but I think it is the U.S style packaging, and would like confirmation. also it has the Glorious European Union C.E marks on the back of the box etc.
Anyone else have one?

i thought the reason the console came with about 6 instruction manuals in every language under the sun meant the same machine was sold everywhere,so you might have a real rarity there

Yeah, bud. It's still got multi language, but they are different ones.
English and Spanish are the first two, next one I'm not sure, see if you know?
Agradecemos a aquisicao do SNK "NEO GEO POCKET COLOUR" (Thankyou for purchasing etc)
And the last is Japanese, its a nice blue book like a PSX manual in size.

Good point bud! Its an Anthrocite one. Weren't they called "Carbon Fibre" in the States?

You have a pink and green box? My box is ocean blue and silver. I live in the States and have never seen a green and pink NGPC box. Strange....

does it look like one of these boxes? the one on the left is my usa one the one on the right is my european one.

Its similar to your USA one.

well slug, your system definatly has more similarities to the usa box than my europe release, but it is not a usa box. They had a few manuals and a limited warrenty card in them. plus, the cover of the manual was different than that. My guess is you got a never released neo pocket package design. Is it one of the smaller ones that were released in japan also? or is it still the same size? And so everyone else can see the pics, here they are:

So the plot thickens?
Its the same size as the normal European releases. I have one of the revised Japanese ones to compare it with. Did you notice that it has the EU symbol on the back of the box? Do you know what the other language is?
I've just compared it with my other Anthrocite unit and they are the same but the sticker on the back of the new unit is slightly different, it has a "TUV" mark on it. Oh, the serial number is 0534324
I bet its something simple!

Wow cox_xoc hosted them up already... Well I must tell. I have the same package, but different language, I only got english on it. The NGPC itself has Japanese and English. My serial number is: (special no.) 0207951. Most defenetly it is different. But I doubt its rare. Altrough, I haven't seen many with these boxes.

Does yours have the Blue "book" type manual?
I've never seen another one! Does yours have the warranty card printed on the back of the box?

Mine has a red book manual, and warraty on the back. The serial number is on the right of the box. Meaby it is rare, since only we have this box...

Nice, I've got one of those!
It's the revised smaller version, jp only. Clear blue!
Tell me? you can see the board in the casing, what is the date on the PCB? I think some of these may have used the canibalised boards from the returned units!
Either that or they had the boards lying around for a few years!

Reguarding packaging has anyone got a sleeve that the pocket box(Euro) fits in,as my Pocket came with this and i've never seen any more like it,it's silver open ended with the SNK logo on it and the box slides into it to protect it???
