Is this a safe Neo Geo CD region mod?

My friend just purchased a Japanese Neo Geo CD system. Once we learned about the region switch jumper, he quickly soldered a paper clip to JN1 to turn it into a US system. It works perfectly, but is it safe for the system in the long run? Below is a picture

It's fine, lazy but fine. Is it even soldered in? If not then it isn't safe as a small jolt could loosen it and then that clip could cause a bridge between two things or more in the console and totally kill the console.
