Well, it's gotta be either AOF 3 or Garou by my reckoning.

AOF 3 has got big colourful, well animated backdrops, and big characters with some superb animation.

Garou, also has excellent backdrops and animation, but the characters aren't as big and don't seem as fluid as AOF 3...

I dunno... What do you guys think?

Maybe there's an AES game out there with better animation than both of them...

Yeah Art of Fighting looks lovely

I think Spinmaster is a great looking game as well and it doesnt even break the 100 meg barrier :)

I wouldn't say its got the "best" animation, but the last blade series is one of the most well presented and polished.

Gotta be Riding Hero. I mean, when those riders fly by you during your 6 second recovery, I never cease to be mesmerized. Top notch work.

I say Garou.

Maybe it has not the most fluid animation, but it surely has the the most animation frames per character.

The char´s with all their taunts, win poses, small gimmicks (Rock´s "by the hair drive", Kain arranging his collar.) and naturally their moves sure have the most overall count of animation frames.

(added) to AoF3

It always makes me laugh to see Wyler "levitate" up until I knocked him down. Really good "standing up"-animation.

Since you´re having a better english than I do, you should be aware of the Terms "details" or "data" or simply "reasons".

But this may too much to ask of a "Volltrottel"!

I'm suprised you went for Sam Sho 3 on backgrounds... I think (imo) that Sam Sho 4 has better bgs than 3... the animation on that title is pretty damn good too.

Last Blade and Last Blade 2 have some stunning backgrounds between them - the burning building in LB 2 is one of my personal faves.

It should be interesting to see the overall quality of ROTD when it's released later this year..

3 got a darker cooler feel to it

and is definitely more inspired than 4

kinda like what happened with gekka 1 / 2

A darker cooler feel does not make better drawn backgrounds or better arranged BGM.

Ninja Masters is even darker than SAM SHO 3, although the grafx of Ninja Masters weaker.

Specialized knowledge seems not to be one of your strengths, Fran!

Fairy snuff.

I think we'll both agree tho that Legend of Success Joe has the greatest animation EVER on any home system. I didn't mention it earlier as I think it would have been unfair on the other titles mentioned...

I have to agree with Fran on this one. Samurai Shodown 3 has some of the BEST backgrounds found in any neo-geo fighter PERIOD.

The style is very dim and dark, which adds to the mayham.

Samurai Shodown 3 has so much going on in the backgrounds...its amazing. Kinda like Kyoshiro's stage...pure genius!

You can either believe it or not...

It's up to you. But, its the truth...what ever thats good for.

It's gotta be Last Blade 3. I play it at Dion's house.

Hey, I thought I WAS THE ONLY ONE who thought that Riding Hero has the best animation!!! Better than AOF3, with its horriffic animation...

MarrymeMai, how about when you are talking to the various people in the Town(like the Bike Shop Guy)
- the lip movement and the facial expressions are unbelievable!

AOF 3

Garou MOTW would be the best but the backgrounds are erratic.....awesome on grants level and typical snk shit on others.Same story with the great Waku 7 and even on a smaller scale galaxy fight.

KIzuna and savage reign are also great. And lets not forget AOF 1 and 2.JUst great graphics, background and music

The last blades are consistently excellent

Street fighter 3 3rd Strike.....

oh Neo Game!!! best Animation for a neo game hhhmmmm.....

Ragnagard has nice smooth animation, forget the low res look at the animationa and it is really smooth, but then again its easy to do better animation when the game is pre rendered....

i'm going with AOF3 because i feel every chracters looks well animated on it where as MOTW i feel only 5 or 6 chracters are nice the rest are pretty average

also Last Blade 2 is up there aswell with Metal Slug 3!!
