Any of u that also frequent the UK Edge gaming forum will know that I have a bit of a campaign going to rid the world of crap game packaging.

Now I see myself as a bit of an expert on the subject and I would say that the clamshell cases are among the best examples of gaming packaging ever available to the gaming public.

With the demise of the NGPC especially the UK version will software companys ever see this outlay on good case design comercially viable in the future?

I mean at the moment we are relatively lucky in recent console's software library's consist of CD'S and DVD'S so u can at least have a sturdy plastic case but even now black clouds of crap packaging design lurk.

Take Warner Bros DVD'S for example what are there snap lock cases about an epeleptic baboon with rabies and a lisp could design a better case especially as there is a fine universal standard!

Plus Nintendo always the main culprits of packaging atrocities score an own goal with there new platforms Japanese software with the outer cases cover just being made out of unprotected cardboard will this company ever learn?

So the point of this deluded alcohol fueled rant comes back to SNK and there incredibaly high packaging standards God bless em! :D

That is so true!
With the NGPC everything screams quality. Even the booklets are well produced. I was suprised the other day when I opened an NGPC cart, how neat and "nice" the circuit board looks!
Much nicer than the inards of most other handhelds carts!

However, I dont think that companies like Nintendo will soon change to this sort of packaging! Obviously its much more expensive, and secondly, using poor quality packaging means that although when a game is bought it looks perfect, by the time most become second hand and are resold, they are in poor condition, and frequently have pieces missing! This also hurts the used market by lowering their value, and helps to make sure that die-hard fans will mostly buy off the shelf games!

Mostly ;)
