Hey guys,

I'm new to the pocket color and have a ton of questions. Any help is appreciated.

1. What's a slimline?
2. Do the US/Jap systems play all region games like the home systems/mvs?
3. Can you switch the language on all games, some games, or does it play in the language for the system originality?
4. Why do some games have boxes and some have clam shells?
5. Why are games sold "new" but with no box or instructions?
6. Is it possible to get clamshell versions of any/all the games in English?
7. Are there any backlit NGPCs?
8. Where's a good place to get the systems/games other than Ebay?
9. Are there any crazy things about the scene/system that I should know about?

Wow, that's a lot of questions. Thanks ahead of time.

Hey welcome in our own little NPGC World :D
I'll try to answer your questions as good as possible, so here we go :

1. The Slimline NGPC is a redesigned version of the "classic" one and, as the name says, it is slimmer. But the console is the same.

2. Yeah all consoles can play all region games. The only exception is for Neo Geo Pocket (Black/White), which cannot play some specific color games.

3. You can switch the language in many games, but not in all (e.g. the japanese version of Faselei! cannot play in english)

4. The Euro Version games all have clamshells, the US-Versions are always in Softcase boxes. The Japanese releases are mixed.

5. These games are from an old stock of SNK. Unfortunately SNK went down the river, as we all know and so went this stock. Maybe the boxes were destroyed from SNK but the game destruction would have been too expensive, so these games are new (never used) but without box/manual.

6. Yeah all Euro Version games are in english, and as said before they all come in clamshells (the whole english collection consists of 39 games)

7. There are, but only home made ones and they are very very rare and of course expensive. I don't care much about backlit, 'cos the NGPC has a good display at all.

8. Try this forum here :D another source is here. There are many more, just look around, also the Neostore has NGPC stuff.

9. mhh, find out for yourself. I'm sure you'll get some nice information in the history of the NGPC-forum.

So have fun around here :D

PEACE

6. Not all games have been released in Europe though, far from that. So some games are only available in Jap version and so have a shitty box. Such as CFC 2, Nigeronpa, Cool Cool Jam, KoF BDP, Ghost Photo Studio etc etc

What's Pocket Reversi Phoenix?
It's considered to be the rarest/most sought after NGPC UK game, fetching prices of over $400 at times on eBay for the complete version. As a game, though it's basically Othello and that's it, and the JP version goes for only about $30. It's basically for collectors.

Probably the most drama that's ever happened with the NGPC has been related to this game. :o

The Slimline is not only slimmer, it is redesigned to have longer battery life and the speaker is much louder with more volume.

I personally love these are they are very comfortable to hold compared to the original NGPC and it comes in unique colors like Crystal Blue but the Carbon and Silver are great too.
