LS74

There's anyone that can tell me what's the use of the LS74 chip on PROGBK boards?

Considering that I'm a hardware noob, let's make it even simpler... what would happen if I remove the LS74 chip from a game that has it and what would happen if I add it to a game that didn't originally came with it?

It's for banking. If you have a game with a P2 ROM then it's needed. If there's no P2 ROM then you don't need it but it won't cause problems if you leave it there. I wrote some info about the board here. That should be useful for repairs or converts and I might get to the others later on.
