Anyone opened one of their carts?

I'd like to know if there is any chance of doing so without damaging the label, or the cart itself.

I am assuming if we can get into carts there may prove a way of positively identifying title variations.

I have thought about doing this myself. From looking at it there is only on screw in the back. I might just have to do this and satisfy my curiosity.

Undo the screw and the front falls off!
No damage, so dont worry!
And the PCB is everso tiny and well made!
Cant see any obvious codes or anything to distinguish region etc (but then the machines are region free)
I would imagine the only difference is between cart sizes, ie, 4,8,16,32 mbit.

ms3, heh

yeah there are flash linkers for the ngpc, and lots of freeware development tools, such as dissasemblers, compilers, demos, and source for learning etc.

Theres a good C compiler out for it now, so you don't have to fiddle with assembler any more.

www.devrs.com have a good npgc section for a start, and theres loads of places you can order a flash linker of various megabit counts.

Development platform would be windows or gnu linux of course.

I opened both samsho2 variants to see if they will share their wisdom and their knowledge with me.

These details differ:

Euro Copy:
board:
8 under SNK lettering
chip:
SNK 55727V
JAPAN 9932HAK

Faces Copy:
board:
5 Under SNK lettering
chip:
SNK 46738V
JAPAN 9912HAK

I assume one of the two numbers on the chip is unique, but perhaps the other identifies a single production run?

I don’t really know about this sort of thing, so it may be useless information….

I have scans of these boards if anyone would like to see.

Any thoughts?
