Loads of MVS / SuperGun questions

I want to get an MVS setup for the normal reasons (cheap games, MVS only titles). A cab is out of the question as I don't have the space so I've decided to go the SuperGun route. There is loads of stuff I'm unsure of though, so I'm hoping that some of you can answer my questions. Here goes:

1) Where is a good place to buy a SuperGun in the UK? Building one is out of the question as I have the soldering skills of a monkey, and for the same reason I need one that will work with an MVS board "out of the box".

2) Any suggestions on what sort of MVS board to get (how many slots)?

3) Where is a good place to buy an MVS board in the UK? Or does anyone here have one that they want to sell?

4) Do Neo Geo CD joypads work with MVS boards? I think I read somewhere once that they didn't.

5) Are there any decent MVS cart sellers in the UK? The few I've found on the Internet seem to be quite pricey compared to the ones in the US.

Thanks

Pity, you just missed an 'out of the box' auction

well answer to question 2 is if u ave a supergun there is NO NEED for more than a 1 slot maybe a 2 slot set up, as it's much more reasonable to get a 4 slot if u have to go inside a cabinet to change the games then if u have the board easily accessible, i'd say if ur not going to change games a lot get a 1, if u are get perhaps a 2 but that should be it, any more slots for a supergun seems like a waste of money. Unfortuantely I can't answer the rest of ur questions, although i do think that the neo cd pads would work u'd still want to use a mas stick or whatever the supergun u buy comes with for more of an "arcade" feel. I'm not sure how u would hook up ur neo cd pads to a supergun anyway.

Cheers for the advice, I was thinking of getting an MVS board with controller ports on. I have an old style joystick, I was just wondering if the CD pads would work with it as I have a couple.

I think that Neo CD pads will work just fine with the MVS board's controller ports, but don't blame me if I'm wrong.

I found this site yesterday, has anyone bought from them? I might email them and see if I can mix and match a little bit with their 6 slot deal. I really want Magical Drop 2! :)

I have brought a super gun from them before it was top notch great sound too, only problem is the speakers are underneath the box so u cant lie it flat on the ground as sound will be muffled so need to stick it on a stand or something that allows the speakers to breath.
Aword of warning though the 1 slot with mono sound is great on the supergun as the sound comes from the super gun itself if you want a 6 slot and their supergun you will have to convert the gun to play stereo or the sound is shit

1) Where is a good place to buy a SuperGun in the UK? Building one is out of the question as I have the soldering skills of a monkey, and for the same reason I need one that will work with an MVS board "out of the box".

Get a Minigun of Kernow. The price is good and so is the product (i have one). Check it out at <a href="http://www.uberia.co.uk" target="_blank">www.uberia.co.uk</a>

2) Any suggestions on what sort of MVS board to get (how many slots)?

If space is a problem go for an MV-1FZ it's the smallest of the boards availible.

3) Where is a good place to buy an MVS board in the UK? Or does anyone here have one that they want to sell?

Ebay to be honest, you can pick um up cheap (I paid £77 for a MV-1FZ with SS3). Theres one on eBay at the moment. Copy this link <a href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3224783524&category=3945" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3224783524&category=3945</a>

4) Do Neo Geo CD joypads work with MVS boards? I think I read somewhere once that they didn't.

All the pads work as far as I know. However I'd go for an Old Style Neo Stick or a Neo Hori Fighting Stick.

5) Are there any decent MVS cart sellers in the UK? The few I've found on the Internet seem to be quite pricey compared to the ones in the US.

Refer to above post for links. Sometimes buying from the US works out cheaper than buying in the UK, even with postage and packing.

Laters,

all of the sellers mentioned in this thread are good sellers.... even if some are a bit expensive
cough raven cough v.g.i cough arcade heaven
i have personally tried both v.g.i and raven out firsthand and both will get you your stuff quick.
ebay is the cheapest for mvs stuff tho all these places charge too much.(even stuff on ebay goes for too much)

heres some other places i found (not tried all of these)
<a href="http://www.arcader.co.uk/pcbs.html" target="_blank">http://www.arcader.co.uk/pcbs.html</a>
<a href="http://www.blazej.demon.co.uk/tplc/neogeo.html" target="_blank">http://www.blazej.demon.co.uk/tplc/neogeo.html</a> (tried this guy before but he sold us a bootleg metal slug even after i enquired whether the carts i was buying were originals)
<a href="http://www.videotronics.cwc.net/" target="_blank">http://www.videotronics.cwc.net/</a>
<a href="http://www.paul.timson.ukonline.co.uk" target="_blank">http://www.paul.timson.ukonline.co.uk</a>

thats about all i've found .everywhere else has pretty much got rid of all neo stuff

Thanks for the comments. Boards are difficult to get hold of (for a good price) over here.

Hopefully more uberia 'bundles' like the one above will be available soon.

I just want to mention that NGCD pads will work OK if plugged in the controller ports of a MVS board with them. If you are plugging them directly to the supergun controller ports, then they will only work if those are male DB15 with the same pin-out as the neo geo INCLUDING the +5V line. The old neo sticks will work even without this line. Since regular arcade controls don't need +5V, usually most superguns don't have this +5V line. You can always add it of course.

Finally I would suggest to modify some controllers for other systems (such as arcade sticks) for a supergun usage. Check the Tech support forum.
