A test in Capitalism (and Ebay of course)

Ok, PLEASE don't get mad at me (for whatever reasons), but I started an ebay test auction for one of my US version Faselei's to determine if it would even sell. Here's the link (which I'm not intending to get bidders from this message board wink ):

Uhh, so you don't even have this yet? Why would somebody buy this now that videogameswholesale is posting in their auctions that their faselei is USA?

BTW I shipped the system today, I have no idea what you're gonna do w/ it tho :o

Well, I can see someone bidding on this because VideoGameWholesale has no scan and no firm description that theirs is the US English version, whereas Brittney does. I'm still waiting for the scan, I'm just careful that way. They have wholesale prices, but there's a minimum $500 order on that stuff. Screw that. I'll wait till the prices dip.

Well it's ebay, so generally the first item up goes for the most. Afterburner Gameboy's used to go for $200 (imagine that) back in late November. My last one I sold in January got around $70.

By the way thanks snkneogeousaCTH for sending the NGPC, can't wait to see how it'll clean up! I'll try to resist messing with any more slimlines, but sometimes my artistic side gets the best of me (must be the watercolor class I'm taking :D )

This Neo Geo Pocket Color cartridge drama is actually kind of fun to follow. Looks like Faselei, Metal Slug 2 and Last Blade are the big movers, all the others are just sitting around since they were normally accessible as full boxed copies all the time. But now other eBay sellers are moving into the foray and putting up their own competitive Buy it Now prices. I think this is a win win situation, already the prices are driven to what you normally expect of a cartridge without box or instruction.

I dont think a huge number of people on these boards are looking to buy cartridges with no boxes or instruction, UK or not

I don't know if anyone's noticed, but Brittney did sell his Faselei USA at the absurd high price of $64.00. Now, you had the cartridge right Brittney? It wasn't just a 'test'.

Yeah I had the cartridge and it's already shipped out. The only reason it worked is because I beat out all the other Faselei sellers timewise. If my Faselei went first, most people don't finish scrolling through all the ebay pages, they just look up "Neo Geo Pocket" and see what's up for auction. My Faselei cartridge was at least 2 or 3 pages ahead of any others which is why it got a premium. You have to remember that ebay is usually implulse buying. wink

Personally I thought it was because you had shown the scan to backup your claim that it was the US Faselei! Few other auctions have been doing so.

You should find out it that buyer reads the forums. On one hand, I doubt it since he/she would have known about the "test". On the other hand, that person must know something about the rarity of that game as far as US releases goes. It's impulse buying, but where's the impulse coming from?
