My only concern in regards to fakes is the crap that keeps popping up in strange form. I have a large amount of MVS carts, and the problem is what is fake and what is not. Emulation takes a huge toll, but the pirates and "data theives" are the ones who ruin it for us all.
Out of my MVS collection I have had trouble understanding what a boot is. There are so many loop holes that can determine what it is real and these coincide with the boots as well.
The EEPROM talk for example is not solid enough a foundation for me to consider some games boots.
I have a copy of Last Blade, and none of the chips are labeled with the native Toshibi chip signature, and I can fully guarantee they are boots. Thats the problem with some MVS carts, they look so plain you cannot tell a boot from a regular cart by just seeing the case. Maybe this led to the transluscent cases?
In the instance of knock off toys you see color displacencies, but whoever is manufacturing the bootleg cases to host these boards must have ridiculous connections.
The quality is so similar its depressing in a sense, and also is a negative aspect of MVS collecting/gaming.
I have a Garou MOTW labeled 000173, this is my only cart with graphical in game issues, sometimes it starts fine, but most of the time the whole screen is fluttered. Its literally eaten by orange garble. This is probably due to the fact the cart has four or so EEP's inside. One must be degenerating due to the light. (Big Bear in regards to the sun issue as my basis)
There are so many perspectives and questions to be answered. I wish there was a bootleg glossary, since in thought many cannot tell the difference. I sure as hell could not originally, and some stuff even baffles me regarding fakes.
