Yeah, it's fairly rare. One of the last titles that was released, I think it was 2000, and some might have gotten recall as part of Aruze's major screwup of SNK.

Buy the japanese one glee
The Japanese one doesn't have english. shame
Are you serious? But my American version plays in Japanese when I switch the internal settings to Japanese. Very interesting information, I wonder if it depends on when the cartridges were released then.

Ah oops, my bad. I thought this was the Dark Arms thread! Silly me. No, the Best Collection doesn't play in English either, it's not dual language, I'm not sure why, but it just doesn't. Maybe the graphics and the improved engine couldn't afford anymore space on that cartridge. I have noticed some differences between the English ones and Japanese ones. When you perform DMs and SDMs, there are actually quotes that flash onto the screen for .5 second and they are quite amusing. Like, when Io... I mean Miss X pull off her King of Fighters 99 DM, she goes,
'Iku wa yo!'
instead of
'Iku zo!'
The former is female Japanese speech, the latter is male Japanese speech. There's plenty more like that. When she goes Orochi wild performing her DM, she goes,
'Itadakimasu!'
which means
'I'm going to start feasting!'
and then she goes on to say
'Konna mono de, kueru no ka!'
(kueru is 'edible') which is a pun on Krizalid's winning quote
'Konna mono de, katteru no ka!'

These special quotes are noticeably absent from the English releases.

Yep, like Bokmeow says, the Japanese and American Gals Fighters are different games, even the Best Collection one.

They are single-language and there are differences between them. Your BC Last Blade has english???!!! I know BC MOTM does but I'm not sure about LB.

On my last blade - most of it plays in english, maybe not the winlines or story junk, but who cares about those anyway?

Well, that's the whole reason why UK LB was always one of the expensive carts...people coveted the English. You don't know how much satisfaction there is in unlocking the scrolls and reading all of them.

Luckily for me, after taking 2 years of Japanese I too can read the stories and winning quotes for my Japanese Best Collection Last Blade, and derive great satisfaction in doing so ^_^

you could open it and take out the backup battery and put it back in, might need to solder it though...

Out of the question, Neo Geo Pocket Color games don't use a backup battery, the Memory Battery in the Neo Geo Pocket Color takes care of that, that's why the recorded data in a Neo Geo Pocket Color won't be erased when the battery goes dead, unlike the Gameboy cartridges. It's all written to the cartridge's flash memory. SNK were smart, they thought of everything ^_^

So.... that doesn't answer the "How do I erase the flash memory in my Gals Fighters?" question...

Anyone?

Smokey in this thread said you can erase it, but I think he was smoking some crack... Super Crack!

By the way, ever seen Frankenhooker?

Well, Flavor may be the best person to answer this, but if there is no way within the cart itself (and I guess we've established that that's the case here) then the only way I could think of would be by using a Flash Linker to hack into the flash RAM...

Not sure how feasible that would be though :?

Cheers
Chris
