NGPC on the GP32

Being a Mac user and a PC must-user, I've seen some fairly bad emulation of the NGPC and the further development of the Mac emulator has pretty much died out. What's the best for each platform and what's everyone's experience?

Also, anyone have a GP32/GamePark to check out the capability of running NGPC on those?

There is no *single* emulator which is perfect. I tend to use a combination of NeoPocott, MHE and NeoPop...

NeoPocott has pretty much stalled, the emulation is pretty good - as far as it goes, and it's the only one that will run at stretched resolutions (which is great for checking the finer points of the graphics...)

MHE is pretty quick, but has issues with sound and timing. If it ever gets finished, this could be a winner wink

NeoPop is probably the best all rounder (and runs pretty much everything I've thrown at it) but again, sound emulation is very ropey - and I'm also not convinced that it starts up properly. In it's favour though, it does support link-up play, albeit in quite flaky form.

I haven't yet spent any time with the GP32 emulator, but will hopefully be seeing rather a lot of them at the weekend when I hit Retrovision :) I will report back...

Cheers
Chris

I'm more or less curious since I own all the NGPC games (UK, and the interesting Japanese ones) and I'm not too fond of using some of the carts considering the value of them in some cases. Call me a collector freak, but I'm a huge gamer looking to play and protect my stuff just in case.

The GamePark looks cool and if anyone has good info on it or has used one, what's it like?

There is a port of NeoPop for the GP32 but it only plays Sonic at like 1 FPS and no sound.

I doubt it will be updated at all.

MHE?

Yeah, the SNES emu would be nice. Great to play Chrono Trigger on the go and not just my console. But the GBA is pretty much a SNES emulator at this point.

Seems, according to Lik-Sang, that 5-10 fps is the norm on the GBA emu. The GP32 Extreme website says the NGPC gets about 16 fps (looks like it's not publicly available yet...)
