There are no company names on it. It's non-jamma, 56-pin. Chips are from Brazil, El Salvador, Korea, and Japan. The only mark I see that would identify it would be a sticker that says "MK13101". Next to that there is a cirle with "Q.C" written in it.

Thanks!

I'll get a pic soon for you.

Are you shitting me with defender... or is that what it really sounds like? It's suppose to be Nekketsu Kouha Kunio Kun... but I'm 99% sure it's not.

If he says it's Defender, then it IS Defender...
I mean the man is a real authority in arcade matters: he's currently writing a guide, "how to knock out a cab" <img src="graemlins/tickled.gif" border="0" alt="[Tickled]" />

Put up the picture. So far, my pcb id vocabulary is around 500 boards or so :) other questions.

Is it a two board with the top board roughly squarish?

the 56 pin MAY be jamma. they are nOt always marked that way.

a picture speaks a thousand words...

really...

Yeah, it's 2 boards connected together. I don't think it's jamma because the output isn't 5 pins with a break, then 23 pins... it's just a straight 28 across. I'll go to my brother's house and steal his camera tomorrow.

Thanks guys.

Actually, Jamma is 6 pins with a break (key), then 21 pins.

It may well be a Jamma bootleg as they are customarily unkeyed. The fact that there is no brand name on the board supports this view.
Sega System 16 PCB's also have a 28 pin full row, but original boards do have the brand name silkscreened on them. All the System 16 bootlegs I've seen had a jammatized edge connector though.

Not all Jamma boards have the key notch either.

Yeah, like other people said, it could still be a JAMMA game. I have some bootleg games with no key on the edge.

1. Konami games of that period were nOT JAMMA but used a 36 pin edge connector of their own standard. Life Force was their first JAMMA game, I beleive.

2. Based on the game board information, from the sounds and the one question I asked, I think you have a bootleg Mortal Kombat 1.

Thanks for the help guys. Turns out this is actually a Nekketsu Kouha Kunio Kun board. EvilMike's jamma harness is unkeyed and after some tinkering, we were able to get the board to work (improperly, but we got a picture). After that, I was able to unkey the jamma harness on my super nova (special note... I don't want to hear anyone complain about the time and effort MAS puts into making the nova... if a man goes through the trouble of soldering a key into a jamma harness - that's dedication! - stupidity, but dedication). Plays like a dream.
