I’ve got this CRAZY!! Idea. I didn’t know where else to post this! I don’t know about other people but I would love to use a HouseOfThe Dead/ Time Crisis Style GunCon with Counterstrike, Quake 3 and URT2k3 , there are many arguments as to why you cant use a guncon in a first person shooter but I said BAH! To that, now I’m trying to think of a way to convert an guncon I pulled off a junked out time crisis 2 machine into a fully function PC "mouse look" device! The Genral Idea is to get it so that the gun works like a mouse, only insted of moveing it on a pad I will point it onto the screen and shoot with the trigger. With all the new wireless mice these days it “should” be possible cram the innards of some pc device in this gun and make it work. I was wondering if any one else has made a functional gun con that works with PC FPS’s or if they could provide some technical input on my idea

Already done...sort of. The Act Labs USB Lightgun works as a mouse. Check it out on their website. MAME supports it also.

It doesnt do realtime point-click, the cursor moves when you "shoot" the image on the screen.

I was also under the same impression as you but im afraid it doesnt work as advertised.

By the way Reznor PM your way.

Thats extremely dissapointing, that makes FPS movement go from "odd" to impossable. I was planning on makeing peddels for genral atrafeing and back and fourth movement and useing the light gun for genral mouselook style turning and what not. I'm sure there has got to be a way to build something that works like this.

doubtful, since there's simply no perfectly accurate and smooth way to figure out where the gun is pointing on a PC monitor, continously.

There is, but the screen would have to be very bright. The Area51 test mode allows continuous tracking of the gun without pulling the trigger, but the screen is all white.
