thanks

300k "piccy" uuhrm..

My idea: gently heat it with a hairdryer and try to mold it ?

i was going to try and just hit it with a hammer. I guess heating it first might help. I saw some thing on tv that is supposed to remove dents out of cars. I wonder if it would work on my neo 29..

How the hell are you going to mold the wood back into shape?

Because of the nature of Candy metal you will prolly never be able to get it looking new again (not like thin metal that can be popped back to its previous shape so long as it's not creased). Looks like you are on a seem so you can try to mallet the thing out a bit. This will prolly minimize the dent.

I thought the candies were plastic like, and that the dent was in the plastic area :)

Your best bet, I would say, is to get a dent puller. I have heard of people using plungers to fix dents in their cars, but because your dent is on the edge and a seam that would not help you. After you have pulled the dent out or as best you can, you will more then likely not be able to get it out all of the way and there will be a small indication of the dent, the paint will crack and it is then your job to sand down the damaged paint to the smooth metal and prime the metal and repaint the area and try to blend in the new paint with the old paint of the cabinet. This can be a pain in the ass and time consuming, but if you take your time then it will end up looking good again. Well those are my two cents.

candy cabs are mostly metal. The only part that is plastic is the top of the control panel, marquee holder, and the frame around the monitor. The rest of the machine is all metal.

What I would do is as follows (since the dent is on an edge)

Get a 2x4 or other rectangular object that won't break when hit with a hammer. Jam it up inside the dent, and pound on it. Hopefully, the dent will pop out. I WOULD NOT, pound on it with just a hammer, you could wind up with some ugly results. Having something rectangular lined up perfectly with the edge, would help keep the shape.

I'd just leave it alone, it adds character and makes your cab look tough, like it was in a fight. Plus I have the problem of whenever I go to correct something minor, I make it 100x worse :)
