Component video through RCA cables?

It's funny, but I did just the opposite one time and it worked (using component cables for RCA), so I don't see why it wouldn't. Might not get the best pic quality, but then again, I'm not sure. :)

Depends on how the cable/output jack is wired...I've never seen it work right out of the box, but it's definitely possible to do through a cable mod. Physically, they're the're pretty much the same thing with component cables tending to be made of higher end stuff to preserve the signal quality and handle the higher transfer rate.

I have heard that there can be some noticable signal degradation with broadband (480p/720p/1080i) component sources. That being said, I used a composite RCA switchbox as a component switchbox both for 480i DVD and 480p XBox material and there was NO noticable loss of quality over having them connected directly, both on my old 40" LCD and on my new 43" DLP set.
