SNES Cleaning Solutions (Whats your advice?)

Recently purchased a SNES for $5 off of Ebay, couldnt pass up a deal like that, the owner said there was a scrambled screen. I automatically knew the problem, just needs cleaning. After using the nintendo brand cleaning kit, all should work fine right? Not exactly, I then thought it could have been the game cartridge that i got for $3 (Killer Instinct) at a local lamestop (Please no spam about the game I know it sucks, I just needed something cheap to test out the system). Now the picture is still scrambled graphics, but the system boots up properly. Any suggestions?

Well the problem with these systems is to open them up you need the special tool.
(that I'm going to Fkn buy)
I've had this problem before,it was the RF switch.
Try another RF switch.
A Nintendo RF switch will work.
Check both ends of the RF switch to see if they are broken.
The solid center wire on the end that goes into the TV has to be stiff.

Otherwise the RF out connection on the machine may be dirty or broken inside.
Try cleaning that too with some scotch brite or light sandpaper.

I've had several of these broken inside.
The RF out plug was loose on the board.
I had to solder it back into place.
The part inside of the RF out may just be bend out of place.
Try moving the RF switch in and out of there and bending it.
I borrowed the special tool from another collector but I returned it.
I should own the tool since I sell SNES and Nintendos (I gotta find one)

The pin connector could also be bad .
The pins may be too loose.

Everything I listed I have found to be the problem with SNES ans NES that I have had or sold.

I've got lucky lately.
All the broken Super Nintendo's I have bought lately have been problems with the RF switch.

actually the RF Switch outlet was screwed up, until I brushed it out with a q-tip, and it works fine now. So my ideal must be the game itself or probably the system still?

Also, from a magnified glass that I have, I saw that PIN connecters are not loose nor bent. So who knows?

Oh I forgot and I figure you probably tried this.
Have you switched the ch 3 to 4 on the machine.
Try putting the Tv on ch 4 or ch 2 and see what happens.
Is the ch switch on the machine on ch 3?
Have you tried another game.
I have a SNES NBA Hang Time cart that just won't work.
They internal mother board could have a hairline crack.
The machine could of been dropped.

no other game, but the channels are fine, the only problem is just a screwed up graphic pixels.

Does anything change if you try and move the cart around while the SNES is on?
If you see any change in pixels then one of the pins just might be too dirty or bent out of place.
I use a cardboard nail file to clean the pins.

We are gonna fix this..Even if it takes days.
Try and get another game.Very important.

Got 2 more games, and I figured out the problem, its the damn PIN connector, either replace it or clean it to death, I need to find that 4.5 mm screw

There's an easy and unexpensive way to open up a snes: get the plastic body of a pen (bic type) and melt the point, then stick it into the hole and press it down on the screw. Wait a few seconds, then unscrew. I managed to open 3 snes with this method.

I tried that method before when i was 14, the only problem was the grids along the screw that made the mold for the pen would break, since its a weak form of plastic

I'll check back here to see if maybe you post again.
You can repair that pin connector if you get the SNES open.
I have used the plastic body of a pen method before.
It worked then another time it didn't.
It depends on how tight the screws are.

I like the plastic body of a pen method.
I think it's very creative.

That's one thing I do.
I create ways to fix stuff.

Wow, that plastic pen method is awesome.

By the way those bits and the cheap screwdriver look like they wont clear the snes casing.. the bit itself will fit but it looks as if it's too short.. it needs to go in at least 2cm and the screwdriver-handle starts at 1.5cm or so it would seem to me..
