I hope someone can help me out. this is the deal. I bouth a NEO GE CD system from a shop where they told me that the machine worked only in black and white. I took it home, conected it up via de audio video ports (the red white and yellow ones), and after doing a bunch of things (changed a couple of options on the t.v. and stuff) it worked in color. The thing is, which I doubt is significant, is that this T.V. has 4 diferent audio video ports.

Well today I sold the machine to a guy and he just got in touch with me and told me that it works in black and white on his screen and upto now he hasn´t found a way of making it go into color.
I told him to fiddle around bout truth be told, I don´t know what´s up. What I do know is that the machine works in color on my T.V. but not on his.
What should he do?

By the way. I´m sending this S.O.S. from Argentina, and the machine is Brazilian (but as I say the hookups are the standard fare red yellow and white) and his T.V. is trinorma.

Can anybody help me out, because I really don´t want to have to give him a refund if I don´t have to.

It sounds like the machine is working in PAL-M on an NTSC TV. I don't know how to fix this, short of buying a convertor.

Yeah, that's definitely the problem. I have several Brazilian version Sega Master Systems and they all do the same thing as your Brazilian NGH. The convertors are around $200-300. You might check around on some pro video sites and I saw a few on eBay. Someone else here might know of a hardware hack or something, but I have no clue.

It's a CD system? DAMNED easy to mod it to work on NTSC from a PAL version. I'll find a link for you.

If the problem is as expected, fix it.

I would have a look here too:

neo geo / cdrom system mods

In any case it is a problem of NTSC 60 Hz / PAL 50 Hz compatibility. Which one is the standar in Argentina? Have your TVs other inputs like Scart?

It may be something simple like the problem I had with my AES?
When using the AV leads on my PAl tv the output from my Jap Neo went to black & white?
But when I used an RGB scart lead instead of the AV leads *Colour*! <img src="graemlins/eek2.gif" border="0" alt="[Eek 2]" />
May not be any help to you?? <img src="graemlins/loco.gif" border="0" alt="[Loco]" />

60hz on a PAL tv doesn't always work. If it doesn't it looks black and white like this.

Pal is 50hz standard. But most tv's will work if you feed them R/G/B and 60hz :) AV will not always work @60hz, but in about 60% cases it works. (pal-60)

Yep, that helps. PAL TVs that are compatible with NTSC 60 Hz will usually display it on color only using a RGB cable, if you try A/V you get b/w (and if the TV is not compatible you get a flickering screen). In my opinion, if you use a RGB cable with your Neo Geo CD connected to the scart socket of your PAL, but NTSC 60 hz compatible TV, you should have color. Try it!
