We have seemingly tried everything...the sound amp is fine..the power supply is fine! I am seeing alot of neo geo multi-slots at auctions now with no sound...as if they are all failing around now! Someone HAS to know what the problem is....seems like the SAME failure (or whatever) so if you can figure out how to fix one you can fix quite a few others too!
Please help!

is this a new board that you just got or is it a board that's been working fine in your cab up until now?

Are you aware that multi-slot MVS boards are not 100% jamma? If you are plugging a multi-slot into a standard jamma cab, it may not work properly. Also, I have heard that one could burn out an MVS sound amp by just plugging the board into a standard jamma wired cab. I have a link that explains all the differences between jamma and multi-MVS, but not handy . . . will find and post it later.

That's the link. If your Neo is a factory original SNK unit, then the jamma wiring shouldn't be an issue.

A few other things to look for include checking the stereo/mono switch on the board, checking the physical dip switch settings (on my 2-slot, all switches are down (on) except #7, and checking the hard and soft dip settings from the main menu, and obviously making sure the volume slider on the main board is pushed up to turn the volume up. Also, go to the main menu (use test switch) and go to hardware test, where it will offer an option to test the sound (4 options there, sound off, left, right, and center let you test your cabinet sound).

I note something odd when I read my 2slot MVS manual: On diagrams and on the front picture, dipswitches are neo jamma connector, but on my slot, they are on the left side.
It's not really important. Sorry.

Well, I just got my MAS SuperNova. I hooked up my 2-slot MVS to it (Without Test Switch). The system boots but takes you straight to the game. The displays and intro demo works but no sound at all, just the sound effect when you push button for depositing coins/credits. Then when you start, the "how to play" screen has sound and music, and when you get to playing the game, it has sound effects and music blaring just fine. What is up with this??? Is this basically the same problem this guys was having on top of thread??? The only resolution being to make a multi-MVS to JAMMA adapter and test switch??? Hey ,Neo-Experts, pls help a newbie out....

your board's just set up to play without demo music. go into the test screen and you'll be able to make it so there is sound if you desire.
