Okay, I have a MVH MV1F single slot system and I'm getting the 'calendar error' on power up.

I have checked and replaced the NiCad Battery and have also done a ROM swap with a know working system. ( the ROM works on both systems )

I still get the above error.

Are there any other steps in replacing the battery ?

If not, any ideas as to what could be wrong. I can't even get into the setup menu's via dip1 or the test / service buttons

cheers

The calendar error can be caused by 1 of 3 things.

1. The battery
2. The calendar chip itself (4990)
3. The calendar crystal (I forget, but I think it's a 32.768 khZ).

If you turn all of the DIPswitches on, you will come up with a WORK RAM TEST whjch might (once in a blue moon) clear out the error. Thats only good about 0.00004% of the time....)
Then turn them back off afterwards..

I think it must be the 4990 chip itself, I have a 32KHZ clock pulse.

I've tried putting it in the RAM test mode, does nothing.....

Oh well, look like I'll relagate this one to the spare parts bin ( unless I can find a 4990 - time to look at the NEC web site I think )

Cheers for the help though !
