on your cabinet there should be a test switch , if not go to www.hardmvs.com and look at the pinouts for the mvs harness . there you can see what the correct pin on it is and just use a piece of wire to ground it and you will enter the bios, once there just go to "setting up the soft dip" then select your game and all the settings are there , level , blood , coin options all that good stuff, also checkout the dip swith settings at hardmvs , #8 controls free play , never trip the mech again.
good luck

I think it's Dip #7 = FreePlay and #8 = Freeze (Pause). . .

There's a pin on the connector for the test switch: if you have a standard Jamma wiring in your cab, then the pin will be 15 (parts side). If you have an MVS wiring, it'll be pin M (11th pin of solder side). To find out what your connector is, compare it with the schemes you find on www.hardmvs.com
At that point you just have to connect together the wire from the test pin with any ground wire
(assuming your cab doesn't have a test switch already).

i have looked for a test switch but cant find one
so all i have to do is stick a piece of wire in the test socket on the harness and then touch the other end of the wire on one of the grounding pins on the harness

Well yes, but aren't the ground terminals on your harness insulated with heat shrink?

Anyway, you might as well use the ground terminals on the power supply...

if its going to be that hard for you to make a test button...

just use dip switch 1.

before you turn on your cabinet, turn on dip switch 1, it will bring you into test mode.

then when youre done, turn dip switch 1 off, and then your cabinet. turn the cabinet back on, and play.
