So who else is pre-ordering this? This is probably one of my favorite games of all time. I'm super psyched and I think the preorder comes with a deck of tarot cards or something like that.

I've already preordered through gamestop.com. The preorder bonus seems to differ among regions (Europe gets an extra artbook as well as the cards, while Canada gets diddly squat).

the limited edition sq-en store release in japan was by far one of the nicest special editions that square has done to date, and it's kind of disappointing that they haven't taken the time and done this more often.

unfortunately, my source's suppliers completely spaced out on this item, so I had to pay an arm and a leg to source one via yahoo auctions japan. :(

I remember that. At the time Japan Post was refusing to ship to the US parcels of that size due to bomb scare. Couldn't do anything about that.

from a story point of view, is it a problem to start the series with that game (episode 7) or is it better to start from the original one (i think it's called march of the black queen)?

and anyone knows if exist some form of translation of the neo geo pocket episode?

If you mean starting from MOTBQ, that's not really necessary. There are a few returning characters but that's about it.

MOTBQ is real time strategy game, so it's not in the same style as LUCT. That game is worth playing on its own merit though you would probably need a guide/FAQ, because some of the things you have to do to get the most out of the story elements are rather counterintuitive.

thanks for the informations, very useful. i prefer SRPG style to RTS (except for the occidental ones, like c&c or Total war series),so for the moment i jump MOTBQ and start with LUCT.

and just to know, did anyone remember if the portrait of the characters in LUCT was present in the original one? (they have the same style of vagrant story, both picture and text, and i like to know which of the two used it first)

I've played tactics ogre before I played motbq back in the day. There's not really any benefit other than, hey I remember that character. It has it's own storyline. I'd definately play the original ogre battle before the 64 version though.

I don't think there was ever a patch for the pocket version of ogre battle, but I know there's at least a translated script floating around.

As for the wallpaper of characters for the psp release, it was not in the original. The new wallpaper also at least one new character not in the original. The original sfcm box displayed this.

Oh yeah if you're wondering about similarities between tactics ogre and vagrant story, Yasumi Matsuno was a director/designer for both.

thanks, i will search for the translated script.
for the similarities between both VG and LUCT, i know that matsuno was the director for both.really sorry that he no longer seems to work on a sequel for one of them (especially vagrant story, a remake/sequel of the original is really needed. if i'm not mistaken, about one year ago some sites posted of a possibility of a vagrant story remake for psp, but after that nothing came out...what a pity...)

Wow really! Now, for this game I'm really psyched. I recalled spending countless hours playing the psx version. Would really like to see cutscenes added as well improved graphics. The gameplay is fantastic don't need to change that.

I'm only on Chapter 2, but so far I haven't seen any cut scenes except for a between chapter voice monologue. Differences I've seen so far from the psx version: better graphics, new leveling/SP system, tweaked class system, a new crafting addition to the store, some new characters, Chariot Tarot(allows you to move back up to 50 steps in a battle if you screwed up), a lot better loading times. so far that's about all I can recall.

seems about the same...still though a must play game. Unfortunately I'm late for da party. I missed the preorder goodies, wished I heard about this sooner.

I might pick this up, but honestly, I'm hoping they announce it for iPhone. I picked up FF Tactics for psp and as nice as it is, I wish I'd waited. psp is kind of a portable that is portable within my house, but my phone actually travels around with me.

It seems that you can actually "borrow" the equipment of guests. Get Denam to buy the 1H sword skill and borrow the Lombard after the first story battle. This allows him to one shot every enemy in the second story battle and get a lot more skill points than it costs for the 1H sword skill. Alas, he doesn't get to keep that weapon.

Just got this the other day, and holy fuck I'm impressed. This certainly isn't a half-assed port, that's for sure. I really love this sort of game when it's done well, and Tactics Ogre has always been one of the best.

I'm curious what route everyone went. I'm currently on the chaos route, but haven't had time to play any the past couple weeks. To Sum it up- Vice becomes a blood thirsty D-Bag

Yeah, I went Chaos too. As a slight spoiler, it was interesting to see that the good path is the chaos path and the evil path is Law. Cool.

Right now I'm trying to beef up my guys and level up the classes I've recently gotten, as well as trying to recruit a fairy, a swordmaster and some dragons in the woods in chapter 2. I know I said it already, but goddamn, I love this game. I never really got far in the PS1 version, so this is all new to me, really.

I'm gonna replay the game sometime and see how that goes. Man, what a great game.

I've reached the point in the forest where random encounters are pretty much too hard to do at all. My guys are all level 13 or 14, except for a few who are new, and need to be leveled up.

But the forest baddies are all level 14 with badass equipment. I can't really take them on with someone in my party who isn't fully leveled, and some of my characters just don't do enough damage to warrant a spot on the roster. I find that for these, I absolutely need to take my berzerker and Arycelle. Guess I'll just progress with the story and level everyone up later.
