Just got my first MVS, a nice NEO four slot. However, it boots up to this:

VIDEO RAM ERROR

ADDRESS WRITE READ
0000060F 55555 1555

What chips need to be replaced? How is it done?

Check the traces from the video ram for any corrosion or cuts/gouges.

How did you test them?

You can try channelmaniac, but I don't know if he's taking new repairs right now.

Checked it visually, and it looks fine.

Sadly, he isn't taking repairs at this time...

You need to use a multimeter the trace could be broken anywhere from the chip to its destination

It's a chip issue and not a trace issue. You can tell by the address the error occured at. Since it's not at the zero address for the block of memory then it's a chip issue.

If the error occurred at 00000000 then it could be either bad RAM or a bad trace... but since it occurred at 0000060F it can only be a bad chip.

Thanks for the clarification...

I'll go to a local arcade repair shop to get it fixed, since channelmaniac is busy.

I need to learn this stuff. Where do I start?

I certainly can, but with the shipping costs back & forth it'd probably be cheaper to buy another board.

A bunch of people in the US can do it, just wait for them to chime in.

Those are the wrong voltage.

This is what you need:

http://www.arcadecomponents.com/catalog/item/2251646/4758714.htm

They show out of stock but I have more in backstock. I have to go to the old house and pick up the shop PC after an after-hours conference call starting shortly. I use that PC to update the website inventory and will throw another 25 up on the inventory count later tonight.
