I have original game of LANDSTALKER,but it's GERMAN version. So I want to make it ENGLISH.Can I burn new PROM/EPROM with English version of the rom and replace with the original PROM German rom.
If it possible, can you tell me what PROM/EPROM memory can I use

I cannnot find anys specification of the original PROM:

SEGA
MPR-15977-F
8316200A
653 AL
9401 Z15

I think it must be 2Mb EPROM,because the English rom is 2MB.But I don't now which model I can use-may be some of these:

27c2048(2 Megabit (128 K x 16-Bit)
27c020(2 Megabit (256 K x 8-Bit))
27C160(16 Mbit 2Mb x8 or 1Mb x16)
M27C322(32 Mbit (2Mb x16)

Thank you

Thank you

You could do it, but it's not worth it at all. It's a cheap game. It's not good to replace legit cartridges with burned EPROMs.

If it's 2mb in file size then multiply by 8 to get the megabit size.

I think you'll find the original is not a PROM, but a MASK ROM.

There is a US version on eBay right now for $7. That would be a much easier route, probably cheaper too, and would save the original cart.

Fairly sure Xian Xi explained how to figure that out. If it's 2MB then it would be a 16megabit ROM.

Why bother going through such a complicated process and ruining the original you have when you could source an english version. Doesn't have to be from eBay, there are other methods.

Seems you're a bit adamant about writing a new ROM. Google might be of more help. Maybe there is documentation from others who have done this? Honestly though why don't you just play the english version, emulated ofcourse, and keep the german original as part of your collection.

Or hey maybe you could SAC a random Sega MD cart, remove the chip, solder in a socket and flash your own ROM's of all the ENGLISH games you want that you've got GERMAN versions of?
