Alrighty, I've looked all over and couldn't find the answer to this one- but I know some games for import Sega Saturn (Like the King of Fighters / Samurai Spirits games) require a sort of RAM cart? Which games need which?

Oh yeah, whilst digging through neo-geo.com I found a link to the CD price list... uh, well. Sort of! It came up as a 404 error. What's up with that?

KOF'95 uses a ROM cartridge which only works with KOF'95.

KOF'96 and '97 use 1MB RAM carts which are interchangable.

Samurai Shodown 3, 4, metal slug, & Real Bout Fatal Fury Special also use the 1MB RAM cart.

There are several different ram carts on the Saturn, the easiest thing is to get one of the 4 in one Action Replays, it works on everything except for KOF 95, and you don't have to worry if the game requires a 1 or 4 meg cart, and you can use that for the Capcom games too.

Just a warning, I've had sprite corruption in the 4-in-1/5-in-1 carts on the two SS games, it happens to me all the time I try to use one. It won't happen on a normal ram cart though and it's cheap enough to get anyway.

I actually have those games, but couldn't remember if they used the RAM cart or not. Actually, my mind must have left me, because if I remember correctly both my SS3 and SS4 were purchased with the RAM carts in the box. D'oh!

I've had the same issue as well. The easiest way to test it is to pause the game during play for a couple of minutes (or more) and see if you get a corrupt frame of character animation. With the official carts I could leave the game paused for hours without trouble.

Here is a list of ports on the Saturn from the NeoGeo that I know of :

Games that require no additionnal hardware :
Fatal Fury 3 (well it's a shame that no rom/ram cart existed at the time, because this game was plagued with loadings, hopefully they corrected it with KOF '95)

Games with a specific ROM cart :
The King Of Fighters '95 (note that there is a PAL release of this one, all other games are japanese releases only)

Games which need a 1MB RAM cart :
Waku Waku 7 (this one is said to use the cart only as an option)
The King Of Fighters '96
The King Of Fighters '97
Ragnagard (never tried this one myself, for the best)
Metal Slug
Real Bout Fatal Fury
Real Bout Fatal Fury Special
Samurai Showdown III
Samurai Showdown IV

All - if I remember correctly - of the above games work with the 4MB RAM cart, but some have graphical glitches (corrupted sprites in varrying amounts) :
The King Of Fighters '96
Metal Slug
Samurai Showdown III
Samurai Showdown IV

Most of the ports were great, far better than their PSX counterparts when they existed, and with much better load times than the Neo-CD...
