I'm about 45hrs into DQ IX right now, and have DQIV sitting on my shelf waiting for me. However, I'm definitely grabbing DQVI the day it comes out....

Any thoughts about this game? Expectations? Early disappointments?

I love IV. I gotten far into V yet (I'm probably just going to start over), but I had a bitch of a time tracking down a copy. So I'm going to buy this ASAP and put it aside until I beat V. I didn't have much interest in IX. I'd like to play it, but it seems like a big time sink.

No! Let me tell you this.....DQIX is worth buying a DS just to play! It is absolutely A M A Z I N G!

That one game has revolutionized the way I think about RPG's. Stop whatever you're doing and go get it.

I'm a few hours in to IX right now. I have IV also. I'm trying to get a cheap copy of V. I will probably get VI when it comes out, just so I can be sure.

IX is decent for sure. Only problem I have with it right now is the story is pretty mediocre. It's not too involved.

Even if none of my friends has a DS? Do you play alone or with random people online?

I just play it alone, however, it would be awesome to play it with others. I don't know anyone else who plays DS besides my son, and all he cares about is spiderman and mario.

The story on DQIX could be considered mediocre I guess. But the game itself is just so awesome and BIG. Definitely worth a purchase. You won't be able to put it down.

I own DQIV and DQIX for the DS and played DQV on DS flashcart which I finished and now I plan on getting DQVI, GS: DD for DS and Ys I&II Chronicles for PSP sometime soon. :D

DQIX was originally going to be an action rpg at first and I'd perfered if it was but don't get me wrong the turned based even though I enjoyed it I just was hoping that it was an action rpg this one time. I really liked the customizing of characters head, body, hand gloves, pants and shoe ware and selecting classes with different weapons, moves and spells though. Some side-quests were pretty difficult and annoying I gave up and just did the ones that I could complete plus finding dungeons were hard to find.

Those slimes are to cute lol! :)

Maybe DQX for the Wii wil be an action rpg? PSP, PS3 and 360 deserves some DQ games.

Well, I'd say keep the action RPG elements out of the main series but use it in spinoff games. DQ Rocket Slime was frickin' awesome.

VI has the best story (next to III) in my opinion. There is a kind of a time/space gimmick kinda like Chrono Cross. Ive had the game pre ordered since april I cant wait. V and IX were nothing short of awesome.

fyi: if gamestop hasn't already closed off pre-orders, they are offering a bonus slime plush with the reservation of DQ VI.

I preordered one.
Need a slime plush.
Wonder what size it is.
Whenever they sell those at cons,
they would run around 20-40 bucks anyways.

I've played through VII and VIII on the PS2 and didn't see what the big deal was.

I think DQ VI is the last of the old school overhead game
before it went pseudo 3d with 7 and then 3D roaming with 8.

Just picked up my copy. I have never even played this game, for some odd reason even though its been translated on SNES (roms) for a while. I picked up the preorder bonus just barely, I went in 2 days ago to preorder it lol

rarehero the slime plushie is about 2" not very big, but still a decent preorder bonus! he will look nice next to my huge King Slime plushie on my desk.

I know, apparently I was the only guy to preorder it at my shop too.
Neat little bonus.
Now I have to put together my DS
(I dismantled it to put on a green shell and
broke 2 slide power buttons trying to put it back together,
the system is so compact there)

Oddly enough, I couldn't really get into DQIX... For some reason I just don't like it. But I'm a huge fan of IV and V, so I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into this one when I get a chance.

i'm like 10 hours into this

outside a little of DQVII, plenty of DQVIII, and some of IX (i'd like to give IX another chance but it initially didn't do anything for me) i really have little experience with the DQ series

still too early to comment and can't compare to the original as i never played it, but i can see myself having a lot of fun with this

If you dig it, and it sounds like you do, I would definitely check out IV and V for DS as well. They're both excellent, and they're not the time sinks VII and VIII are. You can beat 'em in about 30 hours apiece.

....To me that's a good thing these days. ;)

For VIII, if it weren't for one single boss battle halfway through, I would have been able to complete it in 30 hours as well...

Really? I'm like 3/4 through and I've logged a lot more than 30 hours. At least, I think so. And from what I understand, the extra stuff at the end can add dozens of hours of gameplay (if not more). IV just has an extra dungeon, which was cool, but not huge.

V has one too, but I haven't done that one yet, so I don't know how long it takes.

Anyway, if nothing else, I know VII is really long. Like, crazy long.
