So I'm working on a video mod for the Neo and the first attempt resulted only in a super-clear black and white picture. Disgusted I set about an easier task - check it out:

<img src="http://nfg.2y.net/games/grafx/neo_active.jpg" alt=" - " />

Personally I think it looks awesome cool, and I assure you it looks better IRL than these sad pics illustrate. Standby is on as long as there's power, and the 4 blue LEDs kick in when the system's actually on. I'm pleased, and it helps salve my stinging defeat.

There's a red LED in the center drawing power from the pre-switched supply, and four blue ones drawing power AFTER the switch. There's a fair amount of wiring involved in a 5-light reset button, but ... The results are worth it.

I wish you could all see it for real, it looks (IMHO) totally awesome.

Wow, looks fantastic, lawrence. I assume details will be up on gamesx soon? :D Nice idea with the standby light, I would never have thought of that.

*contemplates adding standby lights to all his systems...

Lawrence, I did the same thing with my reset button too. I added 4 blue (make sure they are 470nM not 430nM) leds in the reset button. how do you enable shutdown?

What difference does the wavelength make except to change the shade of blue?

Trivia: I used 25mcd LEDs instead of the burn-out-your-eyes 3500mcd ones I have here. It's a more subtle effect, especially with four LEDs, and they're still visible in daylight. The red LED was unceremoniously yanked from a DC 4x memory card. =)

There is no "shutdown", I just took the power from before the powerswitch.
