Any one a fan/owner of this phone? I've been interested in one for a while, but not as a phone, but as a portable console. I want to get one but I'd like to get a price check on and any recommendations as far as games? I'm not looking to spend a lot on the phone! PM me if you have one for sale! Thanks!

The N-Gage makes a decent portable console. It has a pretty large library and it'll run Symbian games/apps too. There were several excellent exclusive games. Unfortunately, the best games were only available online after the console had failed at retail so they're a little harder to find. Most of the retail games were GBA ports and they're pretty lame.

Some of my favorite games are High Seize, Pathway to Glory 1 & 2, Glimmerati, Mile High Pinball, Darxide (symbian), and Pocket Kingdom.

Here's a pic of my collection so you can see the number of available games...

(It's all the US games, but I'm missing a couple Euro exclusives. I also had a bunch of extras when I took the pic but most are sold.)

So they are region free? Also, I know this is kind of a stupid question, but are any of the online games still up? Or do they have an offline mode? And what should I pay for one?

The games are region free. I think any online servers are long gone. There were a few download only games, but now you can only find them on 'Not for resale' store demo cards (or warez). I think all the online games also have 1P mode. A lot of games support local multiplayer via blue tooth, but you'd need 2 N-Gages.

I have no idea about current prices. I grabbed 2 QDs @ $40 when EB/Gamestop had them on clearance years ago.

EDIT: Just searched for the old 'N-Gage Arena' online service, and looks like they still use the N-Gage brand for newer phones. I've only played the earlier line of N-Gage products. Looks like the new N-Gage line is downloadable content only and earlier N-Gage units aren't compatible with new content. They probably should have changed the name... sorry if I caused any confusion.

I've got a set for sale with pretty much all of the good games, sold off the rest awhile back. I had around 30 or so at my peak, but these are the ones I kept. I've got it listed for $90, but if that's above the going rate I can come down.

Just hit me with a PM if you want :)

Here is an old thread on N-gage.

Nice little system, but I haven't touched mine in over a year.

I had forgot about this system but I just picked a QD off ebay because of this thread. I have an old phone anyway and all I use is phone/text on a basic of basic pre-paid plan so I figure what the hell. I'm actually excited to get it. Came with Pandamonium, Tomb Raider, Monkey Ball and a football game.

I would definitely check it out. System and games are ridiculously cheap now. I had it when the service was still up and loved it. I had the QD, not the taco and a complete set of games. It was my entry into smartphones. Alot of nights were spent looking at the searching for player screen in Pathway to Glory...

Mile High Pinball (for N-Gage 2.0) is one of my favourite games of all time. I hope Nokia puts it out for Qt.

I had a couple N Gages at one point. Sold 'em both to Bibliophile, actually. I don't think he'll be using them for a while...

N Gage is pretty crappy, I can't lie. After you're used to decent handhelds, trying to play it just doesn't really happen. The games all felt like old cell phone games... Haven't aged very well. Worms was the game I remember enjoying the most and even that was pretty dreadful. Just take the money you would spend and cop a cheap GBA. Infinitely better choice.

I had a NGage years back, the newer version.
In all honesty I thought it was a pile of crap for gaming and using as a mobile phone.
