I just got a cps3 system today with sf3:third strike, i plugged it all up and double checked eveything but when i turn I dont get any picture or sound at all on my monitor, anyone know what it could be, or did my board commit the cps3 suicide on me during shipping

This may sound kinda obvious, but you did get the cd drive with your kit right? Even though the CPS 3 system initially loads the entire game onto the main board, it still checks to make sure you have the cd inserted every single time you start it up. Btw, are there two cables connecting the cd drive to the pcb? Thats pretty much all I can think of, unless the security cart is dead.

If you have a bad security cartridge, you get nothing on oscreen. If its merely a bad cd rom or drive, it tells you onscreen...

thanks for your help,
Yes i got the cd-rom and it is plugged in and powered up. It must be the security cart. since if i take that out and turn the game on the screen looks like a nes with a game in it wrong, ie a bunch of messed up graphics on the screen.

now next question is who sells replacement security carts

Guru received a CPS3 game a while back that died during shipping. The security cart may still be good, but I can't remember what game it was for. Ask him about it.

If the battery in the cart died, Capcom will fix it. I'm not sure what they charge for CPS 3 games, but CPS 2 boards are $48 plus shipping. The guy who fixes them is Hugo Chinchilla. Here's his e-mail: HugoC@capcom.com. One thing though...the game MUST be U.S. or Capcom won't fix it. If its not, you have to contact their headqurters in Japan, which I know nothing about unfortunately.

i might be stupid but don't Cd Rom based CPS3 take like 20 mins to start initially while it stores all the CD data into the ram? i dunno if it comes up anything while its doing this or what?

Also if you gonna send CPS2 boards anywhere send them to razoola he recodes the chips so they never die again.....but i don't know if hes cracked CPS3 suicide yet?

Yeah there is a boot-up screen for CPS3 games when they load up. It basically just tells you how long it takes for the game to load...so you'd definately see that screen if the game was functioning properly. Also, I too have heard that the games take 20 minutes to load, but my 3rd strike takes around 50 minutes! BTW, what are you running your CPS 3 on, a TV, an amiga monitor, or a cab? I only ask because my CPS 3 system works perfect on my TV, but doesn't work on either of my Amiga monitors...same thing with my neo. I have no idea why though. annoyed

Could be an issue with sync and ground, my Amiga monitor is a Philips CM8852 with a Scart socket in the back.

I'll receive an SF3 CPS3 kit in early September so I might return with any useful technological findings that might appear.

CPS3 is being worked on, but it's not going anywhere fast, the main processor is unknown and we're more likely to understand women before CPS3 hardware wink

I tired it out in two different cabs, both are your standard showcase cabinets, and both times i get nothing on screen, no now loading or anything. I though maybe it was a power issue, so i tired on my naomi cabinet as well, and nothing still, so i guess i will have to give capcom a call, and get my cart fixed.

I'm not sure whats wrong with your board, but I have a Cps3 sf3:ts and it boots in well under a minute. You'll see a little dancing guy and a game loading screen and then it starts.

I had problems with mine due to the PSU settings being off by a hair. sounds like yours is definitly a problem with the board though. Good luck with it.

dam man, that sucks! My buddy got a cps3 kit for 3rd strike and the guy thought it was broken and sold it for $35...so he went home, plugged it in and went to Jack in the Box for dinner...came back and it was up and running. :)

I hope your problem gets fixed! whatever it is..
