4-Player Kizuna Encounter link up?

I was wondering if you need a special Kizuna encounter cartridge for this, or can you simply link up two cabinets to access the 4-player mode?

Yes you need a special cart for this, nbm and lwk have both had fairly informative threads on this at some point.

I just found these pictures, does this mean that it is a completely different version of Kizuna Enounter, or are these screens just displayed after you link up to MVS's together with the Dual Jamma adaptor? <img src="http://members.aol.com/porygon000/tag3" alt=" - " /> <img src="http://members.aol.com/porygon000/tag2" alt=" - " />

I gathered that. So does this special jamma splitter activate 4-player mode in a regular super tag battle cartridge as shown in the picture, or does it need a special cartridge too?
