I have an AES which I've recently bought to act as my 'work horse' system.

Now, everytime the system boots up or there is a sequence which shows a lot of picture 'flash' (i.e very quick cut animations like the Metal Slug intro or the 100 MEGA SHOCK intro for Gan Gan) the screen flickers like crazy. annoyed

It's really starting to piss me off, and was wondering if anyone knew what the fault could possibly be.

Thanx :)

Try giving the cartridge slot a *heavy* cleaning with a toothbrush and electronics cleaner.

Assuming that your using RGB scart, some of the Neo Geo systems tend to give a fairly weak Sync signal and this causing flashing or warping of the screen (esp with pure white backgrounds), sometimes a 75 Ohm resister in series with the Sync line can sort this problem out, else some low value resisters (start low and get higher) across the R, G and B lines can also fix it on other TVs. If the TV is a sony, then remove any resister on Pin 16 (or lower it to say 100 Ohms). Oh yeah you do these at your own risk too. :p

Ah ha!

This sounds like the problem I'm having! Okie dokie, I'll have a fiddle with the RGB sync later.

The TV is a Panasonic, and yup, I'm using an RGB scart lead.

Thanks for your help kind Sir.

How is it wired up? What are on pins 8 and 16 and pins 7,11 and 15 and 20?
