i own a MVS set up and a AES,but ive noticed that even though i run them both on RGB the MVS looks far superior in picture quality.

The AES seems to have a grid like picture. why is this and can it be sorted help

the AES outputs RGB after it passed through the RGB encoder, resulting in a worse pic than the "real" RGB signal.. you can prolly tap into it before the encoder and get a better quality.

The encoder isn't the problem, I don't think. You'll have to bypass a bit of other circuitry as well.

I had a Supergun + MVS system and the picture was fucking brilliant.

Altough people argue MVS have better RGB output, it's relative.

Two of my PAL-60 AES's had the same bright and sharp picture as the MVS system while hooked up on my TV set.

However, my US and JAP NTSC systems had much worst picture quality than the MVS. not because they're NTSC, but because they have more advanced serial numbers ( worst ).

In most cases, the pre 10xxxx models are all exelent for RGB picture.

Now don't ask me why, but definitively the MVS set outputs better RCA video output than the AES. I don't have a fucking idea why it does it better. But as for the RGB, I find it very relative. wink

i love the picture on my MVS set up its a shame i cant get the same quality out of my AES

i want my metal slug 3 home cart to look as good as all my metal slugs on MVS :)

this is taken from <a href="http://www.neogeousa.com" target="_blank">www.neogeousa.com</a>

RGB Mod:

All MVS units made have one thing in common - All output direct RGB. Because of this when using a MVS board you can expect bright, clean and clear images.

The NeoGeo Home system also outputs RGB only its nothing like that of its MVS counterpart. You can expect dull, faded and often pixelated images. The last two revisions of the NeoGeo Home system will not even work with most 3rd party RGB monitors.

Our new RGB mod completely shuts down the standard RGB and Sync outputs - And enables true MVS quality RGB video out regardless of revision. This is a internal mod which is connected to the NeoGeo's Din-8 connector and will work with all SNK/3rd Party RGB cab.

does anyone know how to do this mod,if so could you please post a detailed description
many thanks glee

It's true buddy ! don't laugh 'till you see it with your own eyes. wink
I laugh because you wrote some of the most nonsensical stuff I've read in ages:

MVS does NOT output RCA video (you mean composite). That may be obtained through a converter, so the quality of comp out depends on the converter and not on the MVS. And since there are so many different converters, there are also many different comp out qualities...

The MVS RGB output OWNZ the AES video output any time for free. This is FACT. :D

If you want to have the best video quality with MS3, just get the MVS version of the game. Simple. :D

It is not that hot here now :D , so using search I found this:

<a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=005400" target="_blank">http://www.neo-geo.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=005400</a>

Trevor, that's worth a read if you want to know about the AES video output.

Amano i only just managed to make my DC sticks, that mod for better RGB looks very compliated,i think i might take your advice and get MVS version instead lol

Not really dude !

I had once a supergun with a 9-Pin din cable plug and it worked flawlessly with the same original Rca composite cable that comes with the AES.

And If I'm correct I also think the supergun Lovecraft has, has the same output din plug. Ask him before talkin about nonsence.

I think it was Winston_goh who built his Supergun. so ask him too. wink

it had a RGB encoder built in then, cause arcade boards NEVER have composite or s-video output.. arcade monitors are always RGB.
