Do these cables send a separate sync signal? I'd like to hook some consoles into a cabinet, just wondering if this would actually work.

scart uses composite sync.
As do most arcade cabs, happily. The only ones that won't are VGA cabs, and the usual oddballs: vectors, old williams cabs (positive sync) etc.

Most scart cables are wired to use composite video as sync, even if the console does have a dedicated sync pin. You'll have to make a sync stripper circuit, which isn't hard at all.

If you have some trouble to get good synch from a scart, then you should use a LM1881, to extract the synch signal from the composite line.

That takes care of the video, but how do you input the sound from the console to the cabinet? spock
