alrigt i got a pal aes here and it won't play any games that aren't pal. i tested an ss2 jap on it and i got a scrambled picture that looks like the smow you get on your tv when you turn off a genesis. but colored and then a few white bars shoot across the screen and by then i turn the thing off. i have it set up on a pal power conversion box. and it plays my ffs and pro masters golf just fine. i don't know whats wrong i don't think it's an over heating circuit board the system stays pretty cool all of the time. does anyone know what's wrong with it? and if noone here knows where can i send it to get this thing fixed?

the cart is dirty man :) use proper cleaning on it, gently take a pencil eraser and run it along the carts teeth, you'll see some black gunk appear, then use a q-tip to brush that eraser stuff off and your as good as gold :)

i cleaned it and it's still scewing up, but i get the title screen now. i also had to clean top players golf because it was staring to mess up to. could the sysem be messing up as well, or is it just the games?

OK, if you're in the US, send it to Jeff Kurtz - he knows his stuff! In Europe, you can send it to me.

If you can, try the "foreign" games in another unit first! and maybe a different TV.

bump. the game is still messing up and now top plaers golf is as well. does anyone know what i can do, anything i can do with the games or the system? ffs is the only game that works perfectly on it. everything else is like a dirty nintendo game, but i cleaned both of the games.

im using an rf switch. i dont know if that has anything to do with it, my rf switch works fine for
fatal fury special.

who is jeff kurtz, and where do i send it; and how much will it cost me?

this is the only unit i know of within the nearest three miles .

oh that's okay. i'm now going to undertake the process of converting it to ntsc. if you have any pictures of what the video crystal that i'm supposed to replace looks like, or a decent description would be useful. or what the jumper i'm suppoed to remove near the CXA1145 chip looks like, i could use that info too.

depends what board u have. the crystal looks like a normal crystal - silver and flat. The spec - i wrote it in another post recently, don't remember offhand, sorry.

where can i get the new video crystal, that i need to put in? or the new jumper.

err, a jumper is a link... have any wire? ;)

the crystal comes from somewhere like MCM, its an NTSC crystal oscillator.

BTW, the RF does indeed make a difference. That unit is tuned to PAL, you'd need a NTSC one (or it could be you're using an NTSC one on a PAL console). Use composite, or get it S-vid modded ;)

u didn't clean it with an eraser did u? that's f*!ked up the games - nice rubber deposits on there and NO the cotton buds don't get it off!
