So now that there's a ton of DSiWare out, what have you all found that's really good?

Here are the ones I've tried so far that I would recommend:

The Best:

  • Shantae: Risky's Revenge (1200 pts) - For those unfamiliar with the GBC game, this is a phenomenal platformer a la Castlevania style. Worth every penny. Probably the highest quality game on DSiWare.

  • Aura-Aura Climber (200 pts) - Crazy cheap. A really fast-paced kind of puzzle/platform type race game? Not sure how to describe it, but it's really good! This is easily my second favorite DSiWare game next to Shantae, and at 200 points the best value you can get. One of my friends also downloaded it and we have competitions to beat each other's score on each level. Great fun.

  • Metal Torrent (500 pts) - Very decent bullet hell shmup.

  • Alpha Bounce (500 pts) - Arkanoid-type space exploration game. Focuses heavily on ship/ball upgrades in a very interesting way. If you like Arkanoid types this will keep you entertained for a good long while.

  • Trajectile (500 pts) - Missile puzzle game - simple but VERY good. Similar to Angry Birds (phone game) in that you have x missiles of different types and have to take out an objective using as few missiles as possible, but it also involves using ricochets heavily. This game is excellent.

  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong Minis March Again! (800 pts) - Kind of a Lemmings like puzzle game made by Nintendo. Huge amount of gameplay and the quality is definitely there. I highly recommend.

The Good:

  • Alphalt 4: Elite Racing (800 pts) - One of the first I downloaded since this was an early release on DSiWare. Actually a pretty good racing game. The set up is similar to NFS with the ability to buy new cars and upgrade them with your race winnings. Lots of different modes for each track. Played through the whole thing and enjoyed it.

  • Soul of Darkness (500 pts) - Castlevania style platformer, and this one is actually a gothic game with vampires and crap. Not anywhere near as good as Shantae, but hey it's only 500 pts and it's a good game for that price.

  • Dr. Mario Express (500 pts) - It's Dr. Mario. You either like this or you don't.

  • Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon (500 pts) - This is an okay pinball game. Not as good as Metroid Pinball, but this is a download. Probably the best DSiWare pinball game out there, so if you like pinball, pick this up.

Shantae for sure. Just wish they would've put the original in as an unlockable.

Bump

Now that the eShop is up an running I wanted an idea on what games to get. I'm looking at: Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, Cave Story, Shantae: Risky's Revenge, Dark Void Zero and Tetrs Party. Any others I should look at? I'll probably get Pinball Pulse and Soul of Darkness too. Elemental Masters? 99 Bullets? Alpha Bounce?

Edit: Alright, I picked up $100 in 3DS space bucks and bought an 8gb 45mb w/r sdhc card last night. I went ahead and grabbed Dark Void Zero, Cave Story, Book Worm, Don't Touch That Line, Mighty Flip Champs and Alpha Bounce. Dark Void Zero, Cave Story and Mighty Flip Champs are well known, quality games. The others are described as follows.

Book Worm - A single player, Scrabble-esq game. You're given a random mix of letters and your objective is to create the biggest word you can. Stages have a score requirement that must be met before you can move on to the next stage. I didn't see a time limit in the video I watched.

Don't Touch That Line - Pretty straight forward. Use the stylus to create a line from start to finish through a 2D maze. The demo showed only one way to go, so think of it as a 2D variant of the arcade game with the metal loop that you guide along a metal rod maze without either making contact. This could be very addictive, well see.

Alpha Bounce - Atari Breakout w/RPG elements. Sounds rad, so I grabbed it.

I liked Pictobits a lot, there's a Mr. Driller game that's good. There's a tower defense type game called Starship Defense or something similar I played quite a lot.
